(Clearwisdom Net) Ever since June 21, after a series of articles that ran along the lines of "The crimes committed in Hebei Wei County as witnessed by Dasan" were published on Minghui Net, (Chinese version of Clearwisdom Net) the corrupt individuals in Hebei Wei County panicked. They stepped up the persecution against Dafa practitioners. In late June, they ransacked the home of Dafa practitioner Han Xiurong, an employee of County Hospital; they wanted to arrest Han. She did not cooperate with the vicious police and resisted with all her might. As a result, the vicious police did not succeed. In the end, the vicious police arrested Zhao Qiwei, a non-practitioner. Zhao Qiwei's brother was illegally detained and subsequently sentenced to a jail term of 3 years because he lawfully appealed in Beijing in October of 1999. On the evening of June 30, the vicious police arrested Zhao Qiwei for painting slogans. Currently, he is still being detained in the detention center. The police had ransacked Zhao Qiwei's home, his parents' home and his sister's home as well. On July 2, the wicked police ransacked the home Gong Hua. They wanted to arrest her but she left after sending forth righteous thoughts to eradicate the evil. Currently, she is homeless. Intending to arrest Gong Hua, the vicious police revisited her home on July 19 just to see if she was home.

Around July 10, the vicious police broke into and ransacked the home of Dafa practitioner Qi Ai. On the same evening, they also broke into and ransacked the home of Dafa practitioner Li Zhenru (a female, around 60 years of age). Prior to this, the vicious police had already arrested, beaten and detained Li Zhenru numerous times. After the year 2000, the vicious police groundlessly suspected that she read and passed around Dafa materials. She was arrested and detained in the office of county's public security coalition. They illegally locked her in the refrigerated warehouse for three days and three nights. On a late evening of June 2000, the vicious police arrested this senior citizen once again for no reason. They put her in a "punishment class" (she was in her underwear and was forbidden to wear clothes). She endured all sorts of tortures. Around June 4 of this year, they once again forcefully arrested her. The elderly woman did not cooperate with the vicious police. Clearly, the vicious police in Hebei Wei County broke the law and regulations when dealing with Dafa practitioners. They mistreat anyone any way they please. All they need is one word given by any level of government officials in order to carry out the action of illegal sentencing, forced brainwashing , detention, seizure of assets and levying heavy fines upon the practitioners. Five practitioners including Zhao Yuwei were illegally sentenced to three year jail terms (sentenced as of September 2000). As of today, their families have not received any official notices. In April 2001, five practitioners of Nanliu Village were illegally detained for two months in the county labor camp just because they posted signs in their village stating "Falun Dafa is good." May 2001, when practitioner Wu Yu of You Quan Zhuang Township was delivering a package containing materials to clarify the truth to a village of the township, a villager who does not know the truth reported him. The Village official rewarded the villager with a meal and locked Wu Yu in the detention center. Wu Yu, was released after he went on hunger strike for five days. Town officials demanded ransom from practitioner, Zhang Shan Pin (over 60-years-old) of Xi He Ying Town, on every holiday (so called "sensitive days"). The police even sent people to live in his house. Total amount of the ransom reached a sum of 19,000 Yuan (about 38 months of salary for a typical worker in China). The vicious police ransacked his home many times and they even took the instant noodles from the pantry with them. They had also brutally beaten his son and his daughter-in-law numerous times...

Ever since this year, Wei County encountered the most severe drought in a hundred years. According to a senior citizen in his eighties, he had never witnessed such a drought. It is almost certain that the affected farmlands would not yield any crops. At the same time, the factories were practically all out of business. Many workers were laid off. Many times, a large group of workers gathered to appeal in the county government complex. Such severe warning and retribution did not waken the unlawful officials in this county. They are still following the footsteps of Jiang Zemin and continue to persecute Dafa and Dafa practitioners.
