I am very preoccupied of the situation of the Falun Gong practitioners in China, and wrote to the Prime Minister about the hunger strike that is currently under course both in the Masanjia labour camp, and in front of the Chinese Embassy in Canada.

I strongly support the cause the hunger strikers are trying to bring to the attention of the world, and I admire their courage and dedication. I hope this movement of protest will get the support of Canadian men and women, and that with this support our government will be able to convince the Chinese authorities to release the practitioners and stop their persecution.

The Canadian government brings its constant support to human rights, and Prime Minister Chrétien has intervened many times in that sense. I wish that these interventions will succeed in the short term.
