1. [Mainland China] A College Professor Clarifies the Truth

A college professor (name withheld) has practiced Falun Gong for a number of years, and he often makes use of his job to spread the Fa, clarify the truth and expose the evil to his students. Due to his efforts, many students have abandoned erroneous thoughts resulting from government propaganda. Some students have either consciously or subconsciously joined him in clarifying the truth after learning the facts, even though they have not started practicing Falun Gong. Several students even obtained the Fa because of him. To those students, this professor represents decency and righteousness, one who has helped them purify their spirits.

2. [Wuhan, Hubei Province] Hewan Labor Camp Detains Dafa Practitioners Past Their Sentences, Practitioners on a Two-Month Hunger Strike

Recently, a group of Dafa practitioners detained at the Hewan Labor Camp in Wuhan completed their sentences. However, because they refused to write "repentance letters," camp officials extended their sentences. At that point, some of the practitioners realized that they should not cooperate, so they decided to go on a hunger strike to protest. A male practitioner named Wu Xinguo (an outstanding teacher of Chinese Literature in the Primary School Affiliated with Wuhan Huazhong University) has been on hunger strike for nearly two months. His current condition is very weak, because camp officials have tortured him mercilessly during his hunger strike. The Wuhan Public Security Bureau, Wenbao Branch arrested Wu at home in April 2001. He was first detained at the Wuhan Second Detention Center and later sent to the labor camp for one year in May. Due to his rapidly deteriorating health, the management of Wu's school and the Neighborhood Committee where Wu lives requested to bail him out for medical reasons. However, this request was denied by the local "610 Office." (Government department established specifically to detain and persecute Falun Gong practitioners)

3. [Zhaodong City, Heilongjiang Province] Dafa Practitioners Hold Hunger Strike for More Than Ten Days After Arrest

Several local practitioners were arrested and detained for distributing Dafa materials. Facing brutal torture and interrogation by the police, these practitioners did not yield. They have been on a hunger strike for more than ten days, and some of them are on the verge of death. The police told their families, "If they die, they will die for nothing." The practitioners on the hunger strike are: Yu Libo, Liu Jixiang, Gao Jingyun, Gao Jingmei, Sun Hongbo, Zhang Zhiguo and Yang Ming.

This is what is happening after the Jiang Zemin regime implemented crueler and so-called "appropriate laws." They are trying in vain to disguise their systematic persecution and murder of Falun Gong practitioners.

4. [Tonghua City, Jilin Province] Exposing the Real Sun Jianfu, A "National Model Citizen" Who Tortures Dafa Practitioners

Sun Jianfu is a Team Supervisor in the Tonghua Labor Camp. He forced Dafa practitioners to go through brainwashing classes, but reported that he had "never beaten or scolded the practitioners. He has persuaded them with sentiments and reason." As a result, he received an award as a "National Model Citizen." In fact, Sun has fanatically tortured Dafa practitioners, and his award was gained with the suffering of Dafa practitioners. In the brainwashing classes, he used lies, severe beatings, electric shocks and sleep deprivation to torment practitioners. Eight Dafa practitioners were sent to the camp on August 14, 2000. They were beaten brutally by Sun on the same night. In the evening of the second day of Chinese New Year (January 25, 2001), Sun was on duty. At around 9 PM, he called Wang Yonghe, a practitioner, into the supervisor's office. He then instructed Gao, Xing and two other inmates to whip Wang with rubber tubes. Wang passed out several times during the beating.

There is no Dafa practitioner at the Tonghua Labor Camp who has not been brutally beaten by Sun Jianfu or by inmates at Sun's orders.

5. [Southern China] Dafa Practitioners in A Southern City Do Their Best to Clarify the Truth

There are some practitioners living in exile in a southern city, and they always try to clarify the truth and help rectify the Fa. Because many kind-hearted people who live in the small, secluded towns nearby have not been able to receive Dafa materials, these practitioners decided to visit these towns. Sometimes, these practitioners will go to places where the persecution seems to be particularly vicious as reported by Clearwisdom. In the past few months, they have been to many areas around the city. During the entire process, they have also felt the power of Fa and the power of righteous thoughts.

On one occasion, when a practitioner was supplying Dafa materials to a local practitioner, he was spotted and caught by the police. He was taken to the local police sub-station, where he sent forth righteous thoughts that he needed to leave. He then left the police sub-station openly in front of several police officers. When these police officers started to chase after him, this practitioner was already sitting on a bus. The police officers managed to get on the bus but could not find him. In the end, this practitioner reached home safe and sound.

Someone reported another practitioner to the police after he finished distributing Dafa materials. A few other local practitioners were already being held at the detention center when he arrived. They still firmly believed in Dafa, but because they had been detained for quite a long time, these practitioners were a little pessimistic. This practitioner talked with them, telling them about what was happening outside. He also told them about Teacher's new scriptures, sharing his own experiences and understandings. These practitioners regained their confidence and improved tremendously in their understanding of the Fa principles. They were very grateful to Teacher for this arrangement. Later, because there was indeed no incriminating evidence against him, this practitioner was released.

6. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Yao Yanping And Two Other Female Practitioners Arrested

Police arrested three female practitioners, including Yao Yanping, in the evening of May 2, 2001. Currently, their whereabouts are still unknown.

At the time of the arrest, these practitioners had nothing besides the clothing they were wearing, but the Public Security Bureau still has not notified their families of where they are being held. Recently the families learned from other sources that they were detained at the Wuhan Drug Rehabilitation Center (Near Hewan Labor Camp), and that they have not had a change of clothing for the last few months. But when the families rushed over to the Rehabilitation Center, they were told there were no such persons being held there. The families cried and protested to no avail.

The cases of the Wuhan Drug Rehabilitation Institution torturing Falun Gong practitioners are widely known. These three people have been detained secretly since May and have had nothing to change into even during the hot summer. We appeal to kind-hearted people to pay attention to these practitioners and all others that are being tortured.

7. [Baoding City, Hebei Province] Heinous Deeds Committed by Gaoyang County Labor Camp

At the Gaoyang County Labor Camp, more than twenty people are routinely kept inside one cell of sixteen to seventeen square meters. Each day, inmates must work twelve hours, carrying boards used for printing patterns onto blankets, and they are beaten if the work is not done properly. In a courtyard that is sixteen to seventeen meters long and merely four meters wide, two hundred people are held together. We heard that last year the labor camp made a profit of 600,000 Yuan [Yuan, Chinese dollars, the monthly salary of an average worker in cities of China is about 500 Yuan]. Every meal consists of only a bun and a few pieces of vegetables in a salty soup. A few days ago, some inmates fainted due to the hard labor and malnutrition. Meanwhile, Dafa practitioners are enduring even worse treatment at the labor camp. Those who refuse to be brainwashed are shocked with electric batons or live wires. Some practitioners were forced to squat or sit with their wrists handcuffed separately to rings in the ground. During the day, they were burned by the sun, and at night they were bitten by mosquitoes. Some practitioners were forced to remain in this position for several days and nights.

8. [Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province] Kuidi Elementary School Sends Female Teacher Sun Zhenxia to Brainwashing Classes

In the morning of June 6, 2001, Dafa practitioner Sun Zhenxia was at home when she suddenly heard knocking on the door. As soon as she opened the door, a group of people from Kuidi Primary School grabbed and pushed her into a waiting taxi. She was then taken to the Yuhua District Communist Party Education College for a brainwashing class. At the brainwashing class, Sun Zhenxia refused to obey any orders and tore up the class's set of rules. She then started a hunger strike and was chained to a chair for practicing the exercises. The next day, the Shijiazhuang Eastside Police Station sent her to the detention center without charging her with a crime. She was detained there for 15 days without any notification to her family. Her family brought her clothing and necessities to the primary school, hoping that they would deliver them to where Sun was being jailed. The principal refused to do so, so Sun is not able to change clothes in the middle of the summer.

Sun Zhenxia was fired from her job in February 2001 simply because she practiced Falun Dafa and "Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance." However, the school principals, Sun Shuhe, Zhao Yanxia and Zhang Xiujun and the Shijiazhuang Eastern Street Police Station were not satisfied with only cutting off her source of income. They would often harass Sun Zhenxia and her family. They also forced Sun Zhenxia's husband to write a "statement" for her, promising that she would give up Falun Gong. They told Sun's husband that if he wrote the statement, then Sun would not be arrested. However, only two days after her husband wrote the statement, Sun was taken from her home while doing housework.

9. [Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province] Yuhua District Officials Place Dafa Practitioners Under 24-hour Surveillance

Yuhua District is a newly formed district of Shijiazhuang City. As soon as this district was formed, the officials decided to step up the persecution of Dafa practitioners. Yuhua District's police department was ordered to arrest at least one practitioner every 10 days and send him or her to a labor camp.

Around July 20, Yuhua District officials intensified the persecution by putting pressure on the administrative centers and policemen to place practitioners under 24-hour surveillance. They aimed this mainly at practitioners in the Jinma area. Overnight, the atmosphere of the neighborhood changed drastically. The Yuhua Eastside Police Station and administrative center continually harassed practitioners. There were people from the police station posted outside every practitioner's door at all times in addition to policemen patrolling the streets. The Chief of the Yuhua Eastside Police Station, Guo Yilong and officers Li Renlai, Hao Zhiwen and Su Fei lead the government security agents to phone and forcefully enter practitioners' homes. They also staked out in hallways and alleys to monitor practitioners' actions. Practitioners Liang Huiling, Liu Duanqin, Li Xiurong and Fan Xiuyun have all been harassed. Even when they went shopping, their actions were monitored constantly. The situation eased after 24 days.

Since the persecution of Falun Gong began, the Yuhua Eastside Police Station has detained and sentenced at least 23 practitioners to labor camp, including a mother and her daughter, and even high school students. In high school student Zhang Haifu's case, the police changed his occupation to "unemployed youth" in order to sentence him to a labor camp. Clearwisdom has exposed this situation numerous times.

In order to further persecute practitioners, Changan District automatically sentences to labor camp those practitioners who have handed out more than 30 flyers clarifying the truth of Falun Gong.

10. [Nanchong City, Sichuan Province] Practitioners Liu Junhua and Xie Xianzhi from Xinan Crude Oil College Arrested

Dr. Liu Junhua, M.D. and Professor Xie Xianzhi from Xinan Crude Oil College were arrested on July 22 simply because they refused to give up their belief of Dafa.

11. [Huaibei City, Anhui Province] Criminal Deeds of Officer Zhang Shoujian from Suixi County

Officer Zhang Shoujian has ignored practitioners' rights and broken into practitioners' homes numerous times to confiscate their belongings. It was reported that he seized a practitioner's motorcycle, ridiculously claiming that there was an illegal communication device planted inside the motorcycle. Zhang now uses the motorcycle as if it were his property.

12. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Two Accounts of Retribution

Wang Mengbo, student president of the Harbin Industrial College Material Science Department and board member of the students association, organized a "Million Signature Petition" to attack Falun Gong. In June 2001, he fractured his collarbone and was unable to take his final examinations.

Guo Libo, a student of Harbin Industrial College, has often defamed and attacked Dafa. His grades have fallen precipitously, and he has failed four subjects this semester. He has been forced to stay back one semester.

13. [Huaibei City, Anhui Province] Tornado Sweeps Through Huaibei City as Retribution for Persecuting Falun Dafa Practitioners

Two female practitioners from the Jugou Residential Area were turned in by residents and arrested while handing out truth-clarifying flyers. On June 9, the local newspaper slandered Dafa by reporting this incident. On June 13, a tornado swept through the Jugou Residential Area. It caused some property damage and injured a woman, who suffered a broken leg and five broken ribs. It was reported that she might have been the one who turned in the practitioners. We'd like to remind everyone that good is rewarded with good and evil is met with evil.

14. [Huaibei City, Anhui Province] City Officials Receive Retribution for Persecuting Falun Dafa

The Huaibei City Police Chief and five officers were arrested for corruption. All of these officers were very active in persecuting Falun Gong, and they are receiving retribution for their deeds.
