(Clearwisdom.net) Liu Zhifen, female, 58-years-old, was a Dafa practitioner in Chongzhou City, Sichuan Province. She was tortured to death at Chongzhou Detention Center (also known as Xiaodongjie) on February 4, 2001.

On January 6, 2001, several policemen from Chongzhou Suburb Police Station ran into Liu's home, and took her to the police station without any legal procedure and without showing any documents. The police then pressed Liu to sign a statement saying that she would give up practicing Falun Gong, but Liu refused to do so. Later, Liu was illegally detained at a detention center. After the Chinese New Year, the police forced Liu and other Dafa practitioners to watch the so-called "Tiananmen Self-Immolation Incident," which had been prepared by vicious people as a slander against Dafa. Liu saw through this deceptive plot and firmly resisted the forced brainwashing. She also went on a hunger strike to appeal. The police then intensified their persecution and made Liu suffer more and more, both physically and mentally.

Finally, after these unlawful and inhuman tortures, Liu died on the morning of February 4. At that time, Liu had become quite thin. Only a few threads of hair were left on her head, and she could not even close her mouth. When she was dying, with other fellow practitioners' help, Liu strove with all her effort to cross her legs and sit in the lotus position. She stayed in the double-leg crossing until the last moment. She validated Dafa in this way, and showed that the determination to cultivate cannot be changed at all.

Liu's son and daughter did not find out about this until around 2 pm on February 4. When they arrived at the police station, the police shouted shamelessly, "Liu Zhifen died because of Falun Gong." The family members were stunned by the attitude of the police. With extreme grief and anger, they said to the police, "She died because you killed her!" The relatives wanted to redress the injustice, but the vicious police said, "The body has been sent to be cremated." When the furious relatives arrived at the crematorium after rushing over, they were only allowed a brief glance at Liu's emaciated body before it was cremated. Not only did no juridical doctor examine the body, even Liu's family members were not allowed a close look at the body.

The police blocked the news and would not allow the relatives to hold a funeral. In addition, several plainclothes policemen went to observe during the burial, so as a result, many relatives and friends were not able to come to mourn.

In the past few months, Chongzhou Police have tried all efforts to cover up the case, so the details of Liu's death in the detention center are not yet known. However, this will be closely investigated sooner or later, and all murderers will be punished according to the law.
