Practitioner Zhao Bin Tortured to Death in Jixi City Detention Center

Practitioner Zhao Bin from Jixi City, Heilongjiang Province, was arrested on July 24, 2001. Shortly after August 20, news leaked out of the detention center that Zhao Bin had been tortured to death. At present, his family is negotiating with the officials in Jixi City.

Zhao Bin, male, 34, was a member of the management team of the Materials Section in the Donghai Mine. In 1999, he was sentenced to one year in a labor camp for appealing for Falun Dafa in Beijing. On July 24, Zhao was reported to the police for playing a radio broadcast of the true stories of Falun Dafa, and he was arrested by the police from the Donghai Police Station. He was detained in the Jixi City Detention Center and refused to cooperate with the police's demands. Shortly after August 20, 2001, news came out that Zhao Bin was tortured to death.
