Two British Practitioners Complete the SOS Walk from London to Brussels
(Clearwisdom.net) Belgium, September 14
Two practitioners from the U.K., Edward and Weiguo, participated in the SOS
Global Walk and successfully arrived in Brussels on September 13. They completed
the 415-kilometer walk (about 258 miles) in 10 days from London to Brussels.
On the morning of September 11, accompanied by two French practitioners, the
two British practitioners went to the Belgian city of Warengem, and joined
Belgian practitioners. They all went to Warengem City Hall to provide Falun Gong
materials and give interviews to the local media.
On the morning of September 12, the practitioners walked to the city hall of
Gent City and handed a letter and Dafa materials to the mayor. The mayor's
representative stated the Belgian government's support for our rights. She promised
to present our situation to Belgian premier and the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Later, a Dutch practitioner joined the walk. They entered Brussels at nighttime.
On the morning of September 13, two British parliament members of the European
Parliament received us in person outside the parliament building. Both
parliament members clearly expressed their support for us, and hoped they could
help us further in depth. Another Belgian parliament member arranged a room in
the Parliament for us to have a press conference. She clearly stated that she
helped to host the meeting because she supports Mr. Li Hongzhi, a candidate for the
2001 Sakharov Prize and the efforts to rescue the Falun Gong practitioners who
are persecuted in China.
The heroic undertaking of two British practitioners has won general approval
of Falun Gong from society. Many government officials and journalists have
expressed great concern about the Falun Gong practitioners who are persecuted.
They continue to look to help us to end the inhumane evil persecution. They also
praised and expressed admiration for Falun Gong practitioners' keeping great
compassion and tolerance under such dangerous circumstances.
