Thank you for your letter concerning the situation of Falun Dafa practitioners in China.

The Labor Party is very concerned about reported human rights abuses against Falun Dafa practitioners. We consider human rights to be a subject of legitimate international concern and reject attempts to portray this concern as interference in the internal affairs of other countries.

We consider that the Australian Government should be forthright in raising concerns about human rights issues in China. The circumstances of Falun Dafa practitioners should be pursued within Australia's bilateral human rights dialogue with China, and at every appropriate opportunity with Chinese authorities.

Thank you for drawing my attention to your concerns on this important issue.
