My Experience in Chaoyanggou Labor Camp, Changchun, Jilin Province

(Clearwisdom.net) I am a Falun Dafa practitioner from Changchun City, Jilin Province of China. I had been illegally sentenced to a one-year term in labor camp because of my appealing for Falun Gong in Beijing in October 1999, and detained in the Fenjin Labor Camp of Changchun. In April 2001, I was transferred to the Chaoyanggou Labor Camp of Changchun. During all those days in labor camps, I suffered various brutal tortures in those dark dens of evil, witnessed the evil nature of the political gang of Jiang Zemin and his associates, and manifested the greatness of Dafa at the same time.

On April 30, 2001, the Chaoyanggou Labor Camp held a "performance" slandering Falun Dafa and Teacher Li. On the day before, the police threatened that whoever hindered this event would be beaten to death. Practitioner Jiang was locked up to a small cell as a result. On the performance day, several top officials from the city and province governments sat in the front row, practitioners were separated by inmates and policemen, and the entire meeting place was heavily guarded, as if they were fearing an attack from a formidable enemy. Just when the actor, who was going to slander Dafa, came on the stage, all practitioners stood up shouting loudly, "These are rumors. This is slander!" Our fellow practitioners' heroic undertaking of safeguarding Dafa strongly shocked all the members of the audience who were present and defeated their vicious conspiracies. The police became exasperated and started beating us barbarously.

To damage and shake practitioners' belief in Dafa, the police tortured us with various despicable means such as depriving us of sleep, brutal beating and increasing our sentences at the labor camp, etc. But, all those means could not change practitioners' righteous thoughts. One early morning, they found that I was meditating on my bed located at the upper level of a double level bed. They threw me down from my bed to the floor and started beating and kicking me. No matter how brutally they tortured me, I remained sitting in the double-lotus position all the time. Finally, they just stood around and dared not to beat me any more. At this moment, a feeling of compassion arose spontaneously from my heart. How sad I was for those lives that have been made use of by the evil! One time, noticing that we were suffering brutal beatings because of safeguarding Dafa, a young practitioner Wei (21 years old) began striking his head against a heater in order to cause a distraction to the guards, thus attempting to save us from more torture.

Because of our compassionate behaviors and unshakable upright beliefs in Dafa, those policemen and inmates who still have some righteous thoughts, obtained a good impression of Dafa. One inmate even told other people about the truth of the Tiananmen Square Immolation incident on his own initiative. A general group leader also said to inmates in a meeting, "Look at those who practice Falun Gong, how nice they are! If everybody could behave as well as them, it would be unnecessary to have us policemen stand here." Many people told us that they would read Zhuan Falun after they went home. During the days at the labor camp, we tried all of our efforts to study Fa so that we would not fall amidst the massive tribulation. Just as Teacher Li indicated in "Deter Interference", "The Fa can reveal all attachments, the Fa can eradicate all evils, the Fa can expose and dispel all lies, and the Fa can strengthen righteous thoughts."

After spending about two years in illegal detention, I was released. Through it all, I had undergone all the unimaginable hardships and tortures, yet strengthened my resolve. I am now even more determined to become a more mature practitioner during the process of Fa rectification and never be unworthy of our Master's compassionate salvation. Let us walk toward the brilliant future in the course of eradicating the evil.
