(Clearwisdom.net) The American government declared September 14 as a day of mourning across the country in commemoration of the victims of the terrorist attack. That night, millions of people went to the streets, lighting candles to mourn the victims and condemn the evil. Following Teacher's words, "As a Dafa disciple, you should show compassion for all sentient beings no matter what situation you're in" (Lecture on the Fa at the Washington, D.C. International Conference) more than ten local practitioners went out to tell people that everyone needs "Truthfulness, Benevolence, and Forbearance." We held benevolence in our hearts towards the sentient beings that have just been through a great tragedy.

As if awakened from a nightmare, people started to think seriously about the meaning of life. While the solemn music of "Pudu" played, the candles brightened people's hearts, as well as our signs that read "The World Needs Peace," "Life Needs Truthfulness, Benevolence, and Forbearance," and "Falun Dafa." Many people passing by with candles and flags in hand were attracted by the words on our signs. We went towards them and said, "We need Truthfulness, Benevolence, and Forbearance." We could see from their eyes that these three words touched their hearts.

People came to ask for Dafa literature in quick succession. Many stopped to talk to us, and some of them took the materials reverently with both hands. Some pressed hands in front of their chest to thank the practitioners, and two Americans joined us in meditation. Several people said that they would go to the practice site to practice with us. One couple came the very next morning. One man said thoughtfully, "Nowadays people don't have faith in gods. They have lost themselves. We need to find ourselves. Truthfulness, Benevolence, and Forbearance are just what we need. I am sorry to hear that the Chinese XX Party is persecuting Falun Gong. The more they persecute it, the more I want to know about it." What heart-felt words spoken by kind-hearted people!

As practitioners, we cherish sentient beings looking for the right way out of the maze. We should think about how to show benevolence towards them without being affected by human sentiment. And we should think about how to help them attain the Fa while they are seeking guidance to find the right way.

Having survived a great catastrophe, many people have awakened from grief and confusion. As long as they find the highest principles of life, "Truthfulness, Benevolence, and Forbearance," they will be able to truly find themselves and discover eternal happiness.

The light of the Great Law of the Cosmos will shine on this planet. People who attain the Fa will have a bright future.
