Falun Dafa Practitioners Are Tortured in Prison and Face Illegal Sentences in Shiyan City, Hubei Province

(Clearwisdom.Net) It was learned recently that the Maojian District People's Court in Shiyan City, will hold court sessions regarding Falun Gong cases and it is very likely to hand down heavy sentences for practitioners.

Some of the cases going to trial involve the following practitioners:

Practitioner Luo Jianzhong, a retired, 60 year-old and a former vice-director of Shiyan City, People's Congress was arrested for going to appeal in Beijing and was taken to the Chaoyang Road Police Station of Shiyan City. Due to Luo Jianzhong's age and high official position, the police at the beginning, did not torture him. However they asked for opinions from the city management and were told that they should treat Luo the same as others. Whatever tortures were to be used on other people were to be used on him. As a result, Luo Jianzhong suffered from severe torture.

In the middle of October 2000, practitioners Sun Yongmei, an Officer in the Shiyan City Women's Federation, Wang Chuanqing, Yu Fen and He Qin, Officers of Tourism Bureau of Shiyan City, went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong and were arrested and brought back by the police from the Chaoyang Road Police Station of Shiyan City. Ding Jinming the vice-head of the police station, together with Zhen Bo as well as other policemen, interrogated practitioners with various tortures. Luo Jianzhong, Sun Yongmei, Wang Chuanqin, and Liu Guangqing have been detained in the First Detention Center now for over 10 months.

Yu Fen was sent to Shiyan Renmin Road Police Station. During her detention, she was hung from a window with a torture method called "Placing the sword on the back", i.e., one hand is forced down from the shoulder and cuffed together with another hand stretched up from the back. She was left to hang in this extremely painful position for over 7 hours, with only her toes touching the floor for the entire time. Her arms were so severely injured that she has been unable to take care of herself since her release.

Liu Guangqing, the vice-director of Shiyan Commission for Inspecting Discipline, and Chen lihua, a doctor working in the Shiyan Women and Children Healthcare Institution, have both been arrested because of their involvement in these cases. They have also suffered cruel torture and have been illegally detained in the First Detention center of Shiyan City.

Chen Lihua went on a hunger strike protesting the illegal detention. Due to this protest the detention center guards instigated inmates to force-feed her a thick mixture of salt with a little water added, which caused serious health consequences for her and as a result she was sent to the hospital emergency room. During her stay in hospital, she found a chance to successfully escape.

Luo Jianzhong, Sun Yongmei, and Liu Guangqing have since been expelled from the party, and from their jobs.

It is no crime that Falun Dafa practitioners go to Beijing to appeal for Dafa using their civil rights granted by the national constitution. It is no crime when people stand forth for the purpose of speaking out the truth that of "Falun Dafa is Good" and that "Falun Dafa is the righteous law".

A letter, a phone call, or a righteous thought sent forth from your heart, would be most precious. Please do not regard these things as not making a difference; help stop these vicious acts and spread kindness and compassion to the world.
