Age: Artist Donates Exhibition Proceeds to Bushfire Appeal

A Falun Gong artist has announced she'll donate all the proceeds from her exhibition in Sydney to the NSW Bushfire Relief Fund.

The Australia-based artist, Zhang Cui Ying, said she was illegally imprisoned in China for more than eight months for supporting the Falun Gong spiritual movement.

In a statement announcing her donation, Zhang is described as "no stranger to tragedy" in explanation of her support for those who have suffered in the fires.

Zhang's exhibition is being held at the Chinese Gardens, Darling Harbour.
