The Cruel Torture of Falun Dafa Practitioners at Yanbian Forced Labor Camp in Jilin Province

(Clearwisdom.net) From April to November 2001, more than 60 Falun Dafa practitioners have been subjected to varying degrees of cruel torture and intensive labor at Yanbian Forced Labor Camp. Practitioners are forced to work everyday nonstop with a large hammer, and the quality of their food is much worse than the non-practitioner laborers. The police also use inmates to watch practitioners and have ordered them to physically torture more than 60 practitioners everyday for two months. Some practitioners were beaten numerous times a day.

Li Wenbin and Yin Guangyue from the Education Department and others from the Administration Department subjected Falun Dafa practitioners to numerous beatings and physical torture. Practitioners were forbidden to use their own money to buy food and placed under strict around the clock surveillance, even when they went to the toilet or cafeteria. This continued until December 19 when practitioners were transferred to Jiutai Forced Labor Camp, where currently they are under the same strict surveillance, depriving them of all of their freedom.

Below are true accounts of torture suffered by some practitioners.

Zhang Beiqi (Address: Unit 91-8, Jiulong Rd, Mingyue Township, Antu County, Jilin Province) was arrested and sentenced to two years in a labor camp on July 28, 2000 for distributing Teacher's articles. In December 2000, he was placed under house arrest. In the same month he was arrested when he appealed in Beijing. In March 2001, he was sent to Yanbian Forced Labor Camp, and his original sentence was extended for one year as punishment. The forced labor camp passed down orders for practitioners to be watched more strictly. On the first day, Zhang Beiqi was placed in a small cell, where he was watched by the inmate Jin Zhehua. The person in charge of small cells repeatedly punched Zhang about the head, including the temples. Zhang fell unconscious on the spot and sustained severe injuries during the beating. He had trouble breathing, felt pain all over his body and lost control of his bowels. Even today, he still feels unbearable pain in his back. Zhang Beiqi and others were jailed in solitary confinement for 28 days. Subsequently, he was transferred to Jiutai Forced Labor Camp on December 19, where he was once again detained in solitary confinement for 10 days during July. From then on, the guards have forced him to perform intensive labor every month and used cruel physical torture on him and other practitioners. In addition, every month his term was extended for another 20 days as punishment.

Zhao Litang (Address: Tumen City, Jilin Province) was sentenced to two years in a labor camp. In June 2001, Zhao Litang was beaten for more than eight hours by guards Li Wenbin and Yin Guangyue with plastic pipes in room 207 on the second floor of Yanbian Forced Labor Camp. Zhao's arms and legs were stretched apart and tied down. He was beaten until there were injuries all over his body. It took months for him to recover, and afterwards he was taken to solitary confinement and subjected to severe physical punishment administered by the Administrative Department.

Xiao Guobin (Address: Erdaobai River, Antu County, Jilin Province) was sent to Yanbin Forced Labor Camp in November 2000. During June 2001, he was beaten by officers Li Wenbin and Yin Guangyue in room 207 on the second floor of the labor camp and sustained severe injuries. His glasses were also smashed. For a whole month, Xiao Guobin had bruises all over his body. After he was beaten with plastic pipes, punched, and kicked, he was taken to solitary confinement and subjected to heavy physical labor assigned by the Administrative Department.

Wang Tiesong (Address: Erdaobai River, Antu County, Jilin Province) was jailed in Yanbin Forced Labor Camp in July 2000. He was subjected to physical punishment and jailed in solitary confinement in April 2001 for talking to another practitioner. During the end of November 2001, he was placed in solitary confinement and also forced into a steel cage because he said "Falun Dafa is good" during a meeting. In the cold of minus 10^oC (14^oF), he was only allowed to wear single layered clothing. Faced with all of this torture, Dafa practitioners went on a hunger strike in protest. The chief of the Administrative Department used electric batons on the practitioners and also beat practitioners such as Wang Tiesong, Yu Jianhua, Xiao Guobin and Gu Yundong, who they locked in steel cages. The officers attempted to force-feed Wang Tiesong, and they tortured him after he resisted. He has been taken to the hospital, and his current status is unknown.

Gu Yundong was beaten so viciously that he sustained severe injuries to his lungs, legs and feet. Even now, he suffers great pain when walking and has trouble moving about. During April to December 2001, the Education and Administration Departments of Yanbian Forced Labor Camp tortured more than 50 practitioners. Currently, all the practitioners who were persecuted have been transferred to Jiutai Forced Labor Camp. Those practitioners who were jailed in solitary confinement include: Zhang Beiqi, Cai Fuchen, Song Kuijun, Liu Jie, Yu Jianhua, Song Zhigang, Wang Tiesong, Xiao Guobin, Zhao Litang, Zhang Hui, Gu Yundong, Li Lian, Zhang Xincai, Jin Minggao, Zhang Guolin, Jin Guangyue.
