On January 12, 2002, the Japan-China Friendship Association in Higashi-Hiroshima City held a New Year celebration party in our Chinese restaurant. The mayor of Higashi-Hiroshima City, the speaker and vice speaker of the City Council came to our restaurant, similar to previous traditions. In order to set up an "Association of Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance" and "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance Day", we prepared news reports from the Association of Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance with a calendar of events, and informed many people about the establishment of the association by mailing greeting cards.

During the party, my mother greeted each one, handed out the news reports and explained the benefit of following Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance. Then she asked them to sign on the colorful visitor's book written "It is Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance Day on January 12 every year." From the speaker and the vice speaker, many people concerned with Japan-China friendship wrote words and signed the book.

My grandfather-in-law was an orphan left behind during World War II. In his speech, he said that he had become healthy after practicing Falun Gong. When I greeted the mayor and clarified the truth of Falun Gong, he listened carefully and nodded. After the speeches, he signed the visitor's book immediately and wrote some words. The councilman who attended Zhang Cuiying's picture exhibition last month wrote, "Please continue your effort!" and signed the visitor's book.

After the mayor signed, people who wished to join the association and support Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance Day signed the book and left their comments and support in the visitor's book one after another.

Among the guests attending that day, the chairman and vice chairman of the Chinese Student Association in Hiroshima University attended the party. My mother handed out the booklet of The Journey of Returning Truth to them and clarified the true facts of Falun Gong to them. We also distributed truth-clarifying materials to the reporters coming to cover the event. In addition, the chairman and members of the Japan-China Friendship Association accepted our truth-clarifying literature and videotapes. One of them asked for many copies of our tapes and wanted to distribute them to other people.

We were pleased to see that so many people signed up to support us and joined the association. We decided to designate January 12th as Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance Day.
