[China] Internal Police News: The Number of Practitioners Tortured to Death
Has Reached 2000
I came across a retired official who had previously worked in a political
department. He said that he frequently received Dafa materials given out by
practitioners and knows something about Falun Dafa. He expressed deep sympathy
towards Falun Gong and his belief that Falun Gong is innocent. When I told him
that at present, the number of practitioners who have been tortured to death and
accounted for has reached 320 while the practitioners tortured to death, but
whose names are not yet known has reached 1000. In reply, he said that according
to internal news from the police department, the actual number of Dafa
practitioners tortured to death has reached 2000.

Greetings to the Teacher
On New Year's Day 2002, all Dafa practitioners from Anda City send greetings
to our great Teacher: "Happy New Year Teacher!" Teacher, please don't
worry. We will do better in assisting in Fa rectification and validating Dafa!
We will not be unworthy of arduous salvation by our great and compassionate
Teacher!!!

[Liaoning Province] Twenty Practitioners Hunger Strike to Protest Persecution
Dafa practitioners Guo Yulong, along with other practitioners went to
distribute Dafa materials. They were detained and sentenced to four years of
forced labor. Guo Yulong was sent to Panjing Forced Labor Camp. In order to
protest the persecution, Guo started a hunger strike 20 days ago and is
continuing with it. News from inside the Camp has reported that
Guo often experiences lightheadedness from his weakened state. But even in this of extremely physically weakened
condition, he still insists on practicing Dafa and reciting Dafa.
The other practitioners, who number more than 20, have also begun to hunger
strike all together. This large-scale hunger strike scared the evil and won the
admiration of the everyday people. The thugs in the labor camp became so
terrified that they reported this to the Liaoning 610 Office. They received a
secret order back saying that no matter what happens, the Camp should not
release the practitioners.
We hope all kindhearted people around the world will take action to save
these 20 practitioners on a hunger strike.
[Chongqing City] Two Practitioners Are Sentenced to Jail
Dafa practitioner He Liyou, male, 28 years old, is an employee of Chuandong
Petroleum Detection and Drilling Company Training Class. He Xiurong, female, 34
years old, is an employee of the Repairing Factory, a section of the same
company.
Both of them wrote letters to various levels of government in the Yubei area
to explain the true situation surrounding Falun Gong in July 2000. This written
appeal resulted in both of them getting sentenced to a long-term detention. They
have been detained since September 1, 2000. Because of the length of the
detention and persecution, He Liyou has almost completely lost his eyesight and
is losing sensation in both his legs. The Yubei prosecutor's department, police
department and court of law are not only refusing to send him for treatment, but
have also sentenced him to three additional years in jail. Meanwhile, He Liyou's
health is continuing to deteriorate.
[China] A Sincere Word from A Death Penalty Criminal, Before Execution
Guo Xianmei was detained in the Hebei Quzhou detention center for committing
crimes of murder. In this detention center, he heard about Dafa and was very
regretful for his crimes. He said, "If I had known about Dafa earlier, I
would not have come to this stage." In the detention center he often cried,
"Falun Dafa is good!" In April 2001, before execution, the police
asked him whether there was anything he wanted to say. Guo steadfastly replied
by saying, "Falun Dafa is good! Falun Dafa is a righteous Fa!"
[China] You Can Be Fearless Only If You Are Unselfish
One night, two practitioners and I went to the countryside to distribute Dafa
materials. Arriving at the third village, we suddenly came cross a man. He asked
us what we were doing, to which I replied, "We are just passing
through." He continued to inquire and asked, "Where do you come
from?" I was not familiar with the surrounding villages so I could not
answer back. Instead, we did not stop and continued walking. Suddenly he cried,
"Turn on the light, catch them!" Forgetting that I am a cultivator,
fear came to my heart. I instantly began running, not caring about my fellow
practitioners. Others caught the practitioners who were with me. The same man
asked them, "Are you Falun Gong practitioners, here to distribute
materials?" The practitioners replied, "Yes, we are." The man
asked, "Then why do you run? You are not thieves. Don't forget to give me
some materials to read if you have them. I know you Falun Gong practitioners are
good people. I have been in a detention center and all the practitioners I
contacted there are people with a high morality." At this point, more than
twenty people had surrounded the group. Two practitioners clarified the truth to
the onlookers and distributed materials. One man said, "You are so great.
It is so dark and you are not afraid. It is so cold, please come to my
home." Those people helped my fellow practitioners find me after I ran off.
We later heard that for the man who wanted to catch us, his home was stolen from
two days earlier. Therefore, he is especially alert.
Having had this experience, it came to our awareness that more and more
people have become clear-minded from the process of Fa-rectification. This event
showed the importance of clarifying the truth. At the same time, I saw my own
fear and selfishness and realized that I should strengthen my Fa study. Only
when we take an initiative to wipe out the evil and when our heart is on the Fa
can we get rid of fear. Teacher said, "The more fearful they are inside,
the more the evil will specifically go after such students." ("Dafa
Disciple's righteous thoughts are powerful") One can be fearless only if he
is unselfish.
[China] Make Use of Every Opportunity to Validate Dafa
One day, I went shopping in a store. A saleswoman was saying that her hair
was turning gray. I asked her: "How old are you this year?" She said:
"Try to guess my age." I said nothing. She asked me: "Then how
old are you now?" I said: "I am 41 years old." She said: "We
are same age. But you look much younger than I." I said: "I practice
Falun Gong. Ten years ago, I did not look younger than I do now. At that time, I was
thin, old and ill, and I lived a very difficult life." So I began with why
I first studied the Fa and practiced the exercises, and then went on to tell the
truth of the Tiananmen "self-immolation" incident, and answered all
the questions she put forward.
Teacher said: "Every person you come into contact with
in society is someone to clarify the truth to, and what's manifest in clarifying
the truth is Dafa disciples' mercy and salvation of the people of the
world" ("To All Students at the Nordic Fa Conference"). Before I
cultivated Dafa, I was reluctant to talk, but now, in order to save the sentient
beings, no matter where I go, I clarify the truth, and do not let a single
chance go. Up until now I have clarified the truth to about 160 people. At the
same time, I have asked them to clarify the truth to their friends and
relatives, and so the effect will go far beyond 160 people.
[Northeastern China] Northeastern Practitioners Suffocate the
Evil of the Persecution
In one area of the northeastern part of China, in order to
strengthen the efforts to persecute Dafa disciples, a large number of police
were sent to stay in a certain place to arrest Dafa practitioners. In order to
resist, Dafa practitioners hung up truth-clarifying banners all around the
corners of the streets and alleys of the village, which struck fear into those
who had come to persecute them.
[Hubei Province] A Large Number of Truth-Clarifying Signs
Appear in a City in Hubei Province
A practitioner in a city in Hubei Province painted signs in
big characters in red paint such as: "Falun Dafa is as indestructible as
diamonds," "Falun Dafa is impregnable," "Falun Dafa is
good," "Redress Falun Dafa," "Dismiss the 610 Office,"
and "Release the detained Falun Gong practitioners." The appearance of
these signs greatly shocked the persecutors of Dafa in this city.
On January 2, 2002, on the front door of this city's daily
newspaper office, and in many other conspicuous places, there again appeared
many Falun Dafa truth-clarifying signs in red paint.
[Hebei Province] Practitioners in Hebei Province Forced to
Flee Their Home
Since the persecution started on July 20, 1999, the Huang
family (all Dafa practitioners) has faced possible detention, and has been
forced to abandon their home. Huang went to Beijing to validate Dafa in 2000,
and was illegally detained for a year. In July 2001, he was again arrested one
night by a policeman who caught him posting truth-clarifying materials. At the
same time, his home was searched, and his Dafa books, materials and personal
possessions were confiscated. The police also unlawfully detained his wife.
Since he had righteous thoughts in his mind, he was able to hold firm and not
comply when the police interrogated him. So they interrogated the child. They
still got nothing. The next day, he walked out of the public security bureau
with dignity. The police sent his wife to a detention center where she served
half a month. Later, they often kept the family under surveillance at a distance
from the door of their home. Knowing the police were watching them, the family
abandoned their home. The police went to their relatives to search for them,
and, not finding them, said: "When Huang is found back home, he will be
sentenced to three years." For several months now, this family of
practitioners have not been able to return home.
[Qiu County, Hebei Province] The Terrorist Activities of the
"610 Office" in Qiu County, Hebei Province
When the persecution started, Jiang's henchmen in the
"610 Office" [an agency specifically created to persecute Falun
Gong with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all
other political or judicial systems] in Qiu County, Hebei Province illegally
arrested and detained some practitioners before releasing them. They made these
arrests perfunctorily; their only purpose was to let the practitioners know they
could be arrested. The "610 Office" wanted to strike fear in
practitioners' hearts and have them give up the practice.
With in-depth study of the Fa, practitioners gradually
increased their understanding and stepped forward to validate Dafa. The
"610 Office" immediately arrested a large number of practitioners, who
were either detained, or sentenced to forced labor. As the persecution
escalated, those who had stayed at home, and even those who had simply given up
cultivation, were also arrested. Those who had registered their names in the
village, no matter whether they still cultivated or not, would be arrested, and
illegally fined. If they had no money, they would be sent to forced labor camp.
For instance, practitioner Zhang Fenggang from Qiu County was arrested at home
without any reason. In June he was arbitrarily detained in the police substation
for long period of time and subjected to brainwashing. Afterwards he was
unlawfully sent to a forced labor camp.
The treatment of Zhang and of the other practitioners
frightened the whole county. Even after practitioners paid the money that was
extorted from them in "fines" or after the "sensitive days"
had passed, they still would not be released. [Note: "Sensitive
days" are national holidays or other times when the government is
particularly concerned about preventing the nation or the world from knowing
that Falun Gong practitioners continue to practice and appeal.]
The commissar of the public security bureau Jiang Longjing
received immediate retribution for this persecution of good people. He became
paralyzed and has had to stay in bed, unable to move at all.
[Wuji County, Hebei Province] Practitioners Geng Jicai and Wang Mingxue
Forced to Become Homeless
In October, practitioner couple Geng Jicai and Wang Mingxue went out of town
to post flyers that clarify the truth about Falun Gong. Some policemen saw and
followed them. The couple noticed the danger and escaped but the policemen
confiscated their motorcycle. The practitioners knew they had been identified.
In order to avoid arrest, they had to leave home and travel from place to place.
In the days following, authorities illegally ransacked their house several
times.
[China] Jiang and Luo's Group Contrive a New Plot to Implement State
Terrorism
The Politics and Judiciary Committee of Central Government plotted a new
campaign against Falun Dafa practitioners. For one week, starting from 7:00 p.m.
on December 28, 2001, there would be a nationwide mass ransacking of
practitioners' homes, searching for truth materials and Dafa books. For example,
Jinzhou City of Liaoning province used workers from local street offices, police
substations, community committees, and local security guards to search all
practitioners' homes starting at 7:00 p.m. on December 28. The evil forces also
hired locksmiths to open the doors if the practitioners refused to open them.
As for Linghe District, the policemen found a lot of truth clarifying
materials, CDs and printers. Over ten practitioners were arrested. In the
Ling'an Street Market Community, the evil forces confiscated more then 10,000
flyers, over 3000 CDs, a computer, and several printers. The police also found
two address books. Six practitioners were arrested including practitioner Rong
Gang. In Guta district, a few practitioners were also arrested.
All practitioners in China please send out righteous thoughts together to
eliminate evil and destroy Jiang and Luo's new plot.
[Beijing] Police Raid a Dafa Printing Site
On the night of December 26 2001, policemen from Beijing broke into a
printing site in Shijinshan area and detained three practitioners. The printing
machine, CDs and Dafa materials were confiscated.
On the same night, the police also abducted practitioner Wang Qinfang from
Fangshan area in Gongzhuwen, Beijing.
[Hainan Province] Police Search Practitioners' Home During the Holidays
Around midnight on December 28, 2001, Hainan police had a province wide
search of practitioners' houses. When they found Falun Dafa truth-clarifying
literature in their homes, they arrested the practitioners. Some practitioners
refused to open the door or to cooperate with the police in any way. In the end,
the police left emptyhanded.
We want to remind other practitioners that the evil forces like to use
holidays to implement new tactics. We should use this chance to rectify the Fa
and eliminate evil whenever it shows up.
[Qiongshan City, Hainan Province] The Police Extort Money From Practitioners'
Families
In Qiongshan city, Hainan province, the Director, Wang Peijie, of the
Political Security Department and political supervisor, Zhou Bingmin, of the
city police department have extorted a lot of money from practitioners' families
since July 20, 1999. If a family member wants to visit a detained practitioner,
they first say that upper-level leaders would not permit the visit. Then they
ask the families to pay them money or pay their restaurant bills. [In China,
a feast in a high quality restaurant can easily cost over 1000 Yuan.] After
the families give them the money, the visitor permit will be issued sooner. They
even shamelessly request the families to invite them to restaurants even after
the practitioners have already been released.

[Hainan Province] The Evils at the Hainan Province Women's Forced Labor Camp
Zeng Chong, a staff member at the Administration and Education Department,
has the authority to issue "visitor permits." When practitioners'
relatives apply for a "visitor permit," he orders them to swear at
Dafa and at Teacher. Otherwise he will refuse to sign the permit.
Zhou Hui, the Director of Group No. 1, is the one responsible for
"strict management" of the practitioners. Group 1 is a "strict
management" brigade (especially for practitioners).
Practitioner Chen Haifang was illegally detained in Brigade No. 1. In
October, her husband visited her and found that she had been so severely
tortured that she could only walk slowly with help. According to the released practitioners, detainees are often so severely tortured that death would almost come as a relief, but the guards keep them alive in order to torture them more. Because word of this situation has been spreading, visitation at this labor camp
is now forbidden.
