Selflessness and Rationality
By a Dafa Practitioner
The Teacher has said, "Validate the Fa with reason" (From
"Rationality"). How do we achieve real rationality then? I would like
to share my understanding based on my own experience.
I went to Tiananmen Square once, but before I achieved the purpose of
validating the Fa, I ended up in a police van. When I distributed flyers or hung
banners, I often thought that as long as I could give away the flyers or display
the banners, I had done my job. I even used the excuse that "the Teacher
will make sure that people with predestined relationships will see them" to
cover up my own attachment. Actually, some jobs could have been done better with
greater attention to detail. But because of this attachment, many jobs were not
done well, and we did not achieve the goal of validating the Fa, at least not
entirely. Underneath these thoughts, I saw my selfishness. Because of this
attachment, my heart was not very pure and clear when I was doing things for
Dafa; nor was I very rational. As a result, the effect was not very good.
As I understand it, in validating the Fa, we can only become more rational as
our hearts become more and more pure.
In "Lecture at the Western United States Fa Conference," Teacher
said, "As you know, a Buddha or a God can give up his life for living
beings and for the interest of the universe -- they can give up anything, and
remain unperturbed nonetheless." Now I have come to understand. When we
validate the Fa, we should be solely focused on benefiting others and
positioning ourselves within Dafa. Only then can we reach true rationality,
because that is the state of our original natures.
This is just my personal understanding during this period of time. Please
correct me if anything is inappropriate.
