Falun Gong Practitioners' Statement on Shenli Lin's Release

(Clearwisdom.net) The following is a statement issued by Montreal practitioners on his release.

Shenli Lin had been imprisoned for over two years, while his wife Jinyu, without news from him, kept a constant vigil, tirelessly appealing for his release. Their case is not unusual: tens of thousands of Falun Gong practitioners have been illegally sentenced to terms of detention in labour camps, detention centers, or prisons, and, like Shenli, subjected to arbitrary extensions to their sentences.

What happened to Shenli should never have happened in the first place.

The Jiang regime's persecution of Falun Gong is a violation of the Chinese constitution, international law, and fundamental human freedoms. The murder of Falun Gong practitioners in China has recently escalated, with over 20 deaths alone over a two-week period

Shenli's example of unbreakable faith exemplifies the situation of Falun Gong as a whole, in China and around the world, a rational belief in the principle of Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance as being a righteous way, a way to peace and harmony, and something that no-one can destroy.

We hope that Shenli can finish what he was in the last step of doing when arrested: the process of immigrating to Canada. He should come home and be reunited with his wife, who has been continuously appealing for his release. We await his return and are hopeful that they can now begin their new life here in Canada as they set out to do two years ago.

And, with the continued support of the public, NGOs, and the government, who have helped us get this far, we are sure that success is in sight.
