Taiwan: Tainan Falun Gong Study and Practicing Camp During Winter Break for School Teachers

To relieve the teachers' stress, improve their physical and mental health, promote morality, and purify people's minds in society, the Falun Dafa Association held a five-day "Tainan Winter Vacation Falun Gong Study and Practice Camp for Teachers" in Yongkang Primary School under the direction of the Tainan City Department of Education from January 21 to 25. 112 teachers, including two principals from Tainan County, attended the camp. With permission of the Education Department, all teachers will accrue 30 hours of continued education hours by attending this study camp. Here are some of the stories from the retreat.

M.P. Li Junyi, who was just re-elected to Parliament, came to the study camp early and congratulated the attendees. Mr. Li has been concerned with the situation of Falun Gong. He especially stressed the principle of Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance and discussed Falun Gong practitioners' peacefulness.

M.P. Guo Tiancai came to meet attendees at about 11 a.m. When he came, Master Li's teaching tape was playing. To avoid interrupting the program, Mr. Guo politely stayed at the service desk and talked to several practitioners for more than 10 minutes to learn more about Falun Gong. He said that he already has a copy of Zhuan Falun. When the Parliament session is adjourned, he will read Master Li's book several more times to better understand Falun Gong principles.

Mr. Huang Xuxin, director of the Education Department of Tainan County, gave a speech on the second day. He was very happy to see over 100 teachers volunteering to attend the Falun Gong study camp. Mr. Huang encouraged teachers to bring the principle of Truth-Benevolence-Forbearance to their own schools and educate next generation to make the school and society a more peaceful place. When he learned that 160 teachers have registered for the next Falun Gong study retreat, he was very pleased and said, "Wonderful."

During the class, we exhibited pictures depicting Jiang regime's brutal persecution of Falun Gong and showed videotapes such as The Peaceful Journey of Falun Dafa. The schoolteachers felt that it was unimaginable for a government to use violence to persecute and kill peace-loving Falun Gong practitioners. This kind of government will not gain the trust of its people, especially when the people being persecuted are the kind people who never fight back. How could they do such a thing!

After listening to Master Li's lectures and learning the five sets of exercises, the principals and schoolteachers all felt benefits from attending the study camp. Principal Chen of Yongkang Primary School mentioned in the discussion session that during the five days he read Zhuan Falun and watched Master Li's lecture tapes until midnight. His diligence is admirable. Principal Chen also did a survey and asked the teachers who felt changes to raise their hands. The result was that two thirds of the teachers raised their hands. He was astonished and said he did not feel anything, but he was convinced by Master Li's teaching. Therefore, when a teacher motioned to get together every month to share experiences, Chen answered on the spot that Yongkang School would hold such a meeting. He also set up a time and asked the teachers not to miss it.
