(Clearwisdom.net) Zhejiang Province is known for its natural beauty and bright, hardworking people. Since the persecution of Falun Gong, however, Zhejing has been hit by one disaster after another. It seems clear that the people in Zhejiang suffer a great deal while their government officials commit evil deeds.

Land Sinks 20 cm [about 8 inches] in One Year

According to a Xinhua News Agency report in the city of Hangzhou on October 25, 2001, vast areas of the province are sinking. Hang-Jia-Hu Plain, Ningbo-Shaoxing Plain and Wenzhou-Huangyan Plain continue to sink, causing serious ecological damage and possibly new geological hazards. According to one source, the rate of the land's depression in Zhejiang Province is accelerating. Experts believe that if the tendency continues, a catastrophe is inevitable. In addition, the urban area's ability to discharge floodwaters is eroding; therefore the danger of a major flood has been aggravated.

Hangzhou City - Famous "Tian Tang" Brand Umbrellas Are Made in Hangzhou Prison (http://www.clearwisdom.net/emh/articles/2001/11/4/15400.html)

Practitioners are forced to do manual labor while being illegally detained in Hangzhou City Detention Center. According to Chinese law, while suspects may be detained during an investigation period, a distinction is made between "suspects" and "criminals." Criminals may be forced to work but the law does not allow suspects to be sentenced to "forced labor re-education." However, practitioners have been forced to do manual labor while illegally detained in the detention center. The work is heavy and the hours are long.

The detainees are forced to make the "Tian Tang" brand umbrellas. The "Tian Tang" umbrella is a popular umbrella in China because, being made by prisoners, it has strict quality control. In the detention centers where the practitioners are forced to make umbrellas, if one pin is missed, the worker is punished. Part of the punishment is to make an extra 70 umbrellas, yet one can produce a maximum of 60 umbrellas per day. In the view of the vicious policemen, human labor is the cheapest resource. To them, any raw material, such as a thread or a needle, is more precious than a human being. The illegally detained practitioners said that it was like hell on earth.

Even practitioners who had not distributed Dafa truth-clarifying materials were arrested as "suspects." Half a month later, the police found that someone else was distributing the materials but they still didn't release those illegally detained until 30 days had passed. Before releasing them, the Political Security Section chief shamelessly said, "You must confess to something, otherwise we can't explain why we detained you so long." After their release the police withheld the practitioners' money, identification cards, communication equipment and private letters. They wanted the practitioners to write "repentance letters" [to renounce Dafa] as a condition for the return of personal property.

Another Dafa practitioner is self-employed and has a small business, but the authorities withheld his business license. He couldn't work. Some practitioners found jobs but the police went to their companies and threatened their employers, leading to the practitioners' dismissal. Some practitioners were highly thought of in their work units; nevertheless authorities from the police department forced the work units to dismiss them.

The evil uses every despicable means possible to restrict practitioners.

Zhejiang Province Practitioners Suffer Cruel Torture in Forced Labor Camps (http://www.clearwisdom.net/emh/articles/2001/5/10/9456.html)

At the end of 1999, a Falun Dafa practitioner in Zhejiang Province wrote an appeal letter clarifying that Falun Dafa has great benefits and does no harm to society, to individuals or their families. As a result, he was sentenced to one and a half years of forced labor during which time he suffered many cruel tortures.

There are several hundred practitioners in Zhejiang Province who are sentenced to forced labor. It is prohibited to say that "Falun Dafa is good" at the labor camps! If one does so, longer terms of imprisonment and severe tortures are implemented. For example, in July 2000, a forcible measure was carried out in the labor camp. They were hung up for several days and nights. Some were made to sit on the "Tiger Bench" [a brutal torture instrument]. They were offered one liang [about 1.6 oz.] of rice and a little bit of water every day. The authorities forced them to write statements regretting ever having practiced Falun Dafa or else their terms would be extended and they would be tortured with fire. Some practitioners are still being held several months after their terms have ended.

Beginning in February 2001, many practitioners were detained again. Zhejiang Province has more than 100 counties, with over 40 practitioners detained from each. At present, the whereabouts of many are unknown. Some were arrested and immediately sent to labor camps or sentenced to jail.

All these measures are against human nature. Please make public our situation via the Internet and let people know the truth.

Ningbo City - 7 Practitioners Detained In Mental Hospital http://www.clearwisdom.net/emh/articles/2000/4/6/8514.html

At least 7 practitioners are being detained in the Kangzhuang Mental Hospital of Ningbo City (also called Ningbo Kangning Hospital). They have been held separately for several months. They face daily drug "treatment" until they write a guarantee giving up Falun Gong. The police station enforcers ruled that no one except supervisors from their workplaces and families could visit. This rule does not apply to regular mental patients, just practitioners. Let's think about this again -- if a practitioner does not give up Falun Gong, s/he has to stay in the Mental Hospital forever. Do the practitioners have any basic human rights at all?

Warning

The frequent disasters in China are no coincidence. They are the consequences of the evil deeds of Jiang Zemin and Luo Gan. Their unceasing lies undermining Falun Dafa have brainwashed many Chinese citizens to become pawns in the government's persecution, which in itself is a crime. Falun Gong practitioners risk their lives to stand up and clarify the truth. They are telling the people not to assist the evil. They also encourage people to stand with Falun Dafa practitioners against the brutality of Jiang and Luo's regime. Only when we stand together shall the frequent disasters end and shall China have a bright future.
