Li Shuying Upholds Her Belief in Dafa Despite Brutal Torture in Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp, Changchun City, Jilin Province

(Clearwisdom.net) Li Shuying, a practitioner in Yushu City, Jilin Province, validated Dafa at Tiananmen Square on February 10, 2000 and was arrested. She was given a term of one year in the 4^th Brigade of Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp, Changchun City. She finished her term ten months ago; however, the Camp refuses to release her.

Li is steadfast in her belief and refuses to be labeled a criminal. There were times she refused to wear the uniform and the nametag required by the camp, and the guards punished her and made her stand and face the wall for a long time. She refused to sign any statements denouncing Falun Gong and therefore was beaten with clubs and electric batons. As a result of the attack, her neck was covered with blisters. On another occasion, she was confined to a solitary compartment for three months. [The so-called "solitary compartment" refers to means locking up a single detainee in a solitary cell which contains a basin and a pair of handcuffs. The basin is used both as a washbasin and a toilet.]

Refusing to denounce her belief in Dafa, she was sent to the 6^th Brigade where a dozen people harassed and brainwashed her day and night. As a protest, she went on a hunger strike for 12 days. The guards forcefully injected an unknown substance into her and force-fed her, which caused her so much pain that she spat out blood and lost consciousness twice. She has since lost her hearing permanently due to the mistreatments she endured.

Li is fearless and will safeguard Falun Dafa with her life. Her solid faith in Dafa and righteous thoughts have shaken and frightened the evil.

We demand that the Heizuizi Labor Camp release Li and other practitioners immediately and unconditionally.

1. Practitioner Li Shuying validated Dafa on Tiananmen Square on February 10, 2000. She was arrested on February 12 and detained at Yushu Detention Center. She and her cellmates, another thirty more practitioners, persisted in studying the Fa and doing the exercises. To punish them, policeman Teng threw filthy water used for mopping the floor onto their bodies and their beddings, soaking everything. At the time, the temperature was --20^oC [-4^oF]. However, despite the cold and dampness, Li and other practitioners acted as if nothing had happened and recited "Lunyu" and other articles written by Teacher. The policemen were so furious that they beat the practitioners and seized their books. To protest, the practitioners began a hunger strike.

Around 200 practitioners were detained in Yushu Detention Center as well. The policemen utilized all vicious means to torture them. To stop practitioners from doing the exercises in the morning, they isolated steadfast practitioners including Li and another female practitioner Liu Shujuan and sent them to Cell No. 8. Those who still did the exercises were punished and made to stand outdoors in the freezing cold at 4:00 in the morning, some only in their underwear.

Li remains full of righteous thoughts, and fearless. She is unwavering in her belief and refuses to sign any statements denouncing Dafa. As a result, she was given a one-year term at Heizuizi Labor Camp. Together with Li at the Labor Camp were another nine practitioners from Yushu Detention Center.

They were later joined by more than 100 practitioners from the same Center.

2. Li was illegally imprisoned in the 4^th Brigade of Heizuizi Labor Camp on March 7, 2000. She continued to study the Fa and do the exercises. This Labor Camp is notorious for its brutality in torturing practitioners. There were times that the guards made Li stand and face the wall for a long time and beat her with clubs and electric batons. As a result, her neck was covered with blisters. She would not succumb to any torture, persisting in studying the Fa and doing the exercises.

The Chief of Guard Zhang Guimei ferociously said, "So you want to do the exercises, right?" She subsequently confined practitioners Li Shuying, Wang Ying, Zhu E, Jin Min and He Hua in solitary compartments and made them sit in the double lotus position for more than two days. They were not allowed to relax their legs even when they ate. During this time, Li disregarded the cruelty of her torturers and had only Truth-Compassion-Forbearance in her heart. She silently recited Teacher's articles, stayed steadfast in her belief in Dafa, refused to sign any statements to denounce Dafa or succumb to any other vicious means used by the guards.

In July 2000, the 4^th Brigade had more than 120 practitioners in its custody. Li and a few other practitioners continued to refuse to write the denouncing statements, so the police sent them to the 6th Brigade for further torture. Before they left, a practitioner (now actively participating in Fa rectification) tried to persuade them to sign the statement. Li said to her, "You don't have to say anything more. One has to determine for oneself what one should do. I have never thought about how I can reach consummation. All I know is that I have to continue cultivating."

In the 6^th Brigade, a dozen collaborators [former Falun Gong practitioners who have gone astray due to brainwashing and torture] surrounded Li each day and tried to brainwash her. The guards ordered the collaborators to take turns talking to Li. Li, however, silently sat and recited Teacher's articles and did not really hear what they were saying. Knowing that she was not listening, the police used electric batons to torture her. To this, Li said, "I have not committed any crimes. I will succumb to nothing."

Li is determined in not co-operating with the evils. She refuses to wear the uniform and the nametag required of cellmates. Consequently, the Heizuizi Labor Camp has denied visitation rights to her family since April 4, 2000. Her cousin once came to the Camp to see her, but since Li refused to wear the uniform, the guards sent her cousin away. On October 25, 2001, Li's mother-in-law came to see her and demanded the guards to release Li. She questioned the guard, "Li has not committed any crimes yet has been imprisoned for two years. Why can't you let her go?" The guard replied, "Two years? If she still refuses to be "re-educated," she will be here for much longer than that." Walking away, the guard returned to add, "There is nothing I can do about her anymore. I have tried everything I can."

The evil forces are at their wits end. Despite every possible action taken to persecute these innocent and kind-hearted people who have done nothing except maintain their unfaltering belief in Dafa, the evil forces have failed to achieve anything. Thousands and thousands of practitioners like Li have rectified the misunderstanding, discrimination and persecution using their compassion and righteous thoughts towards human kind.
