Henan Province: No. 3 Forced-Labor Camp Officials and Criminal Inmates Murder and Torture Practitioners

At 3 a.m. on April 25, 2002, Li Jian, a young man who had worked as an attorney for the Zhumadian City Procurement Office, was tortured to death. This occurred in the No. 3 Forced-Labor Camp in Henan Province where he had been illegally imprisoned. Many Falun Dafa practitioners protested the atrocities in the camp by conducting a hunger strike.

Zhang Kaiyun, Wang Mingyao, Hu Wenqing and other Falun Dafa practitioners appealed to the responsible department in the forced-labor camp; consequently, each of their detention sentences were extended by varying degrees. Practitioner Cai Guosheng protested Li Jian's torture and murder by conducting a hunger strike. He was force-fed many times. All the torments in the forced-labor camp failed to make him submit; eventually, he openly and righteously walked out of the camp.

Falun Dafa practitioner Yao Sanzhong from Luohe City was illegally arrested in August 2000. She has suffered from brutal torture, including being tied and shackled in excruciating positions. The bindings were tightened with a stick to cause further misery. This has been done to her because she insists on practicing the exercises and resisting the evil persecution. Her illegal sentence has been extended for an additional half-year.

Practitioners Wu Junqing (from Luohe City) and Shang Donglin (from Hua County, Town of Gao Ping) had both been illegally imprisoned for a year in a labor camp. Unfortunately, the persecution continued. According to the information they provided: Because they were not transformed, the "610 Office" detained them after their release, and sent them directly to the local brainwashing center. [The "610 Office" is an agency specifically created by Jiang Zemin to persecute Falun Gong. It has absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and over all other political and judiciary systems in China.] The following three months of brainwashing failed to make the two practitioners renounce their belief, so the "610" officers sent them back to the forced-labor camp. In the camp, their detention periods were extended without any legal basis. Wu Junqing and Shang Donglin had previously been illegally imprisoned for a year, and this time they were sentenced to three years and two years respectively. Some other Falun Dafa practitioners' detention periods were also arbitrarily extended without any legal procedure.

Practitioners are forced to do various kinds of heavy labor in the camp; sometimes they have to work until midnight or even all night. Nearly every Falun Dafa practitioner that remains steadfast in his or her belief of "Truth, Compassion and Forbearance" has been attacked with electric batons, beaten with fists, kicked severely, and has endured rope torture and various other abuses.

On March 21, 2001, the labor camp officials ordered a meeting to persecute Dafa practitioners. Practitioners loudly shouted, "Falun Dafa is good" and, "Falun Dafa is righteous" at the meeting. They were inhumanly tormented and tortured for validating Falun Dafa. Together, policemen and criminals tortured practitioners with electric batons and tied them up with ropes. Those criminals' detention periods were reduced after they had tortured practitioners. However, those practitioners that resisted the persecution had their detention periods extended by either one year or half a year. Sadly and ridiculously, the government gave the Henan No. 3 Forced-Labor Camp an award of "Civilized Unit for Saving and Education."
