What's the Real Understanding of the Fa
By A German Practitioner
(Clearwisdom.net) Whenever practitioners share their experiences with others, we always hope
that practitioners can talk about their own viewpoints based on their
understanding of the Fa. For instance, say one person is drowning and his life
is in danger. There are several persons standing on the shore discussing how
they are going to save the drowning person, and how they should treat the event
based on the Fa. In contrast, there is another person, who does not say or think
of anything. He jumps into the water right away, and pulls the drowned person to
the shore. Which of the above two actions better comply with the Fa?
Another question has been pointed out in Master's article Learning the Fa, "When learning Dafa, intellectuals should be aware of a most prominent
problem: They study Dafa in the same way that everyday people study
theoretical writings, such as selecting relevant quotations from renowned
people to examine their own conduct. This will hinder a cultivator's
progress."
My understanding is, it is not certain that our actions or viewpoints can
comply with the Fa even if we are able to quote several sentences from Dafa to
support our own actions or viewpoints. Only when our actions and viewpoints
conform with the complete principles of Dafa, is it a true comprehension of the
Fa. When one has a true comprehension of the Fa, all the behaviors of a person
will conform with the Fa. Sometimes we find that we are trapped by the notions
and thinking style formed in the ordinary human life -- we start looking for
"support" in Fa to back up our human concepts and behavior. If this "support"
only seems to comply with a certain part of the Fa, and not the whole of the Fa,
then we are not retaining a true and complete comprehension of the Fa. No matter
what I come across in my daily life, I always examine myself with the universal
principle of "Truthfulness--Compassion--Forbearance."
The above represents my current personal understanding. If there is anything
incorrect, please help to rectify.
