Dafa Practitioners Put Through Sham Trial in Hebei Province

(Clearwisdom.net) It was 9 a.m. on October 25, 2002. Five Dafa practitioners were on trial in a court in the town of Botou in Hebei Province. The family members of the Dafa practitioners were not informed of the court session, and the judge returned a verdict and sentence without any presentation of evidence. During the court's preceedings, Qi Wenchao, one of the Dafa practitioners said to the judge, "We were just trying to clarify the true situation to everyone. After we started practicing Falun Dafa, we have learned to live as good people. We are not guilty of anything." The judge interrupted him and would not allow him to defend himself.

Another Dafa practitioner, Xia Zhongjie, who was once a strong young man but tortured to a state of deformity by police, said to the judge, "I am a Dafa practitioner. I have not done anything wrong. I refuse to answer any questions." Then, with great effort, he turned around, faced the audience and said, "I have been on a hunger strike for 125 days already. I am using my body to protest against this persecution." The judge interrupted him, saying, "If we are not humane, how could have you survived until today?" Xia answered, "You tied me down to an iron bed, tortured me everyday and force-fed me with cold water. My body is covered with untreated wounds beneath this shirt you made me wear. There is not a spot of unmarked skin on my body." The judge again stopped him from talking further.

One onlooker could not contain himself any longer. He stood up and said, "Your Honor, why don't you let him finish?" Immediately, a policeman rushed towards this man and dragged him out of the court. Upon hearing Xia's story, a person from the audience burst into tears and was driven out of the court. Towards the end of the court session, another member of the audience was arrested for merely saying, "Falun Dafa is good."

From the court proceedings above, anyone can see that the courts in China have no justice whatsoever when it comes to Falun Gong practitioners.
