President of French National Assembly Responds to the Guadeloupe Falun Dafa Association [October 1, 2002]

National Assembly
The President

Paris, October 1, 2002

Sir,

You have brought my attention to the repression exerted in China against Falun Gong practitioners.

I wish to specifically let you know that the French authorities have not held back in expressing their concerns over Human Rights violations in which Falun Gong practitioners are victims. In the dialogues between the European Union and China, especially on Human Rights, the attention of the Chinese authorities is regularly brought to the respect that is due to individual and collective freedoms, and in particular, the freedoms of association, of opinion, and of expression.

In addition, you suggest the idea of a European resolution on the situation of Human Rights in China: it is well understood that members of the European parliament will examine the feasibility of such an initiative.

I ask you, sir, to accept the expression of my best wishes.

Jean-Louis Debré

Mr. Jean-Louis Pepin

Guadeloupe Falun Dafa Association
