Canadian Parliament Arranged a Formal Dialogue with China Regarding Falun Gong and Other Human Rights Issues -- Chinese Diplomats Cancelled Without Reason

(Clearwidsom.net)

The Canadian Parliament's Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade Committee intended to conduct a dialogue with delegates from the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade Committee of the Chinese National People's Congress on November 4th. According to an email sent by a human rights organization last Friday (November 1st), Falun Gong and other human rights issues in China would be the topics of the meeting. However, on Monday, November 4th, the Chinese party cancelled the dialogue without providing an official reason.

Since Jiang's regime initiated the persecution of Falun Gong in China on July 1999, Canadian officials and leaders have clearly stated their position: We oppose the persecution of Falun Gong. After three years, the Canadian people and government have been consistently and firmly supporting kind Falun Gong practitioners to uphold justice and appeal for an end to the brutal persecution. In addition, with the efforts of Canadian people from all walks of life, 6 Falun Gong practitioners have been rescued from the inhumane persecution in China. Not long ago, on October 24th, 2002, the Canadian House of Commons passed with unanimous consent a Private Members Motion in support of Falun Gong. The motion expressed that in the opinion of the House of Commons, the Canadian Prime Minister should use the opportunity of the APEC meeting to talk with the head of the People's Republic of China, Jiang Zemin, and call for the release of 13 imprisoned Falun Gong practitioners with close family ties in Canada, so that they can reunite with their families in Canada.

On November 4th, when word came that some Chinese delegates to the National People's Congress would have lunch with Canadian Members of Parliament, Falun Gong practitioners from Montreal and Ottawa gathered in front of the House of Parliament to practice the exercises and peacefully appeal. They also clarified the truth to many Chinese delegates who passed by. One Chinese gentleman expressed his admiration of Falun Gong practitioners and sent wonderful wishes to Falun Gong.

In the wild wind and snow, the fluttering golden banner was very attractive and bright. It expressed the voices of Falun Gong practitioners worldwide to the Chinese delegates at the National People's Congress: Falun Gong is good! Stop persecuting Falun Gong!
