Falun Dafa Gave Me a New Life

I'm 53 years old. I attained the Fa in 1996 and took the path of cultivation in the same year.

Before I attained the Fa, I suffered from various illnesses such as prenatal heart disease, poor blood forming capacity, anemia, and low blood pressure (the lowest was 60/30). I also had four sebaceous cysts (a cyst formed by distention of a sebaceous gland, due to obstruction of its excretory duct) in my body and the doctors suggested that I should have an operation. I hovered between life and death seven times between the age of 26 and 47. I went to the best hospitals and used the most advanced medical equipment. I tried all kinds of Chinese medicine, western medicine, folk prescriptions and tonics, and I took heart-strengthening pills every day. I was so desperate that I would knock on any doctor's door for help. When I exhausted all help from the scientific and medical community, I turned to superstitious practices for help and tried out fortune telling, witchcraft, burning incense and praying to Buddha. I also tried massage therapy from qigong masters, but nothing worked. My heart was beating so fast that even my heels were seeping with cold sweat. I could not eat or sleep and my hair turned white. I was like half human/ half ghost and was barely hanging on by a thread. My heart condition worsened after I gave birth to my first child at the age of 26. After six months of treatment, my condition had not improved; instead it got worse and my blood pressure dropped to 60/30 and my head felt so dizzy that I could hardly keep my eyes open. Each time I opened my eyes, I would feel as if the sky and the earth were spinning round. I became bed-ridden and could not look after myself. I suffered a lot from the lingering diseases and was unable to breastfeed my baby. I had lost all hope. I called to Heaven and asked why it was so unfair to me since I had not done anything bad. One day, an old lady held my hand and said, "You cannot even help yourself. This baby girl will get married when she grows up anyway; it is better to give her away to a well-off couple who cannot have children themselves." This came as such a shock to me that I lost consciousness. Each time I had an attack of the disease, it got worse. My relatives and friends gave me moral support and helped me financially. We had borrowed money from all of them, and now all we had left was our apartment. My husband held my hands and said in tears, "Let's sell the apartment so that you could get more treatment. I cannot bear to see you die." The two of us hugged and cried. I said to him, " I have had treatment already. We must not sell the apartment. All I have given our children is a scar on their hearts and debts. I would rather die than sell the apartment." This was a heartfelt feeling from a mother for her children. Because of my long time illnesses, the whole family suffered a lot. It was like living in hell and a day felt like a year. I called to heaven and earth, but got no response. Who could help me?

In February 1996, my husband went to Master's hometown, Changchun, for my niece's wedding, and was fortunate enough to attain Dafa. He said to me on the phone in a mood that was happy beyond description, "You can be saved now. You can be saved. You must wait till I get home. I have attained the universal Dafa--Falun Gong. The Master is called Li Hongzhi. He is 46, and Falun Gong is a practice of mind and body." My husband brought home many things about Falun Gong including videotapes, cassettes, the book Zhuan Falun and the Falun picture. As soon as he got home, he started to read me Zhuan Falun. In "Lunyu," it said, "The Buddha Fa is the most profound; among all the theories in the world, it is the most intricate and extraordinary science. In order to explore this domain, humankind must fundamentally change its conventional thinking. Otherwise, the truth of the universe will forever remain a mystery to humankind, and everyday people will forever crawl within the boundary delimited by their own ignorance." Tears rolled down my cheeks as I listened to this. Isn't this what I have been searching so hard for in my life? I will practice cultivation. Master said, "It is because a practitioner is most precious, for he or she wants to practice cultivation. Therefore, developing this thought is most precious. In Buddhism, people talk about Buddha-nature. When a person's Buddha-nature emerges, the enlightened beings are able to help him." (Zhuan Falun) "Perhaps everyone has heard this statement in Buddhism, "When one's Buddha-nature emerges, it will shake 'the world of ten directions' " Whoever sees it will come to give a hand and help this person out unconditionally." (Zhuan Falun). So I started to practice the exercises in bed. My husband taught me hand by hand. Then a miracle happened. Three days after I started the exercises, my husband carried me out of bed and I could sit on the sofa and do the exercises. Gradually, I could open my eyes. 13 days later, I was able to go to the practice site to do the exercises and study the Fa with other fellow practitioners.

Not long after, I went into a stage of eliminating the karma. Master said, "We will purify their bodies and enable them to practice cultivation toward high levels. There is a transition at the lowest level of cultivation practice, and this is to purify your body completely. All of the bad things on your mind, the karmic field surrounding your body, and the elements that make your body unhealthy will be cleaned out. If they are not cleaned out, how can you, with such an impure, dark body and a filthy mind, practice cultivation toward a higher level?" (Zhuan Falun) "Due to karma resulting from past wrongdoing, one has illnesses or tribulations; suffering is repaying a karmic debt..." (Zhuan Falun) Everything Master said is the truth. I understood that I was born with karma and I knew I was a mass of karma. I was pampered by doting parents from a young age, and was well looked after and spoiled for a long time. My children are also very dutiful, and I have always been taking without giving, thus my karma became bigger and bigger. I was determined that I would study the Fa well and cultivate my xinxing. The karma elimination came in a very severe manner, and I suffered headache, dizziness, and black stuff like hair (karma) came out. I started vomiting and having diarrhea. I felt I was being suffocated and had pain in my heart. Since the age of 26 when I had the first attack from my old disease, my periods stopped, but at the age of 47 after I attained the Fa, I miraculously started to have periods again. I'm now 53 years old and I have regular periods every month. Master poured energy into the top of my head many times. In my sleep, I could feel a warm current flowing from top to bottom and through my whole body. I eat well and sleep well. I used to be only skin and bones and my whole face was wrinkled up. After I started cultivation, the wrinkles became less and my skin turned soft and supple, glowing with health. I have also put on weight and my white hair started to turn black. In the past, we were reduced to poverty and ruin and I was consumed with illnesses. If it had not been for Dafa, I would have died long ago. I deeply feel the immense kindness and grace of our Master. The greatness of our Master is far beyond any words. Thank you Master for saving my life.

After I attained the Fa, I experienced boundless benefits, and everyone who knows me understands how great and miraculous the Fa is. I would talk about Dafa to everyone I came across, person to person, heart to heart; one tells another ten; ten pass it on to another hundred, and another thousand. A relative of mine suffered late stage cancer. I gave her a copy of Zhuan Falun and a copy of Essentials for Further Advancement and told her to read the books and study the Fa first. I asked her if she could cultivate, if she could let go of life and death and if she could let go of her attachment to the disease. She said she could. Following that, she started to cultivate, to study the Fa and to do the exercises. She steadfastly endured the sufferings from karma elimination, passed tests one after another, and eliminated her karma one by one. Now she has turned into a healthy and normal practitioner. Amongst my relatives and friends, there are people who suffer from various kinds of illnesses, such as hemiplegia (paralysis affecting only one side of the body), cerebral thrombus, gallstones, gastritis and intestinal cancer. Through cultivation, I became a healthy person, so I use myself as a living advertisement to help them start cultivation themselves. That relative who was saved from the edge of death in particular talks about how good Falun Dafa is every day.

Master said, "Study the Fa and obtain the Fa, Share in learning and share in cultivating, Following [the Fa] in everything, Compliance is cultivation." ("Solid Cultivation" of Hong Yin) We helped each other and encouraged each other and shared our understandings and experience in our cultivation. In spreading the Fa, I always think of the aged people. Although we had a practice site right in my house, still I would go to the old practice site and teach the elderly practitioners hand by hand. I bought Dafa materials and sent them to the old people. As we practiced outdoors in winter, I bought warm clothes, socks and shoes for practitioners who had difficulties in life. I traveled around the city, township, county, enterprises and the countryside to spread the Fa to every household, and went to those seriously sick people's homes to study the Fa with them and teach them the exercises. Some people from other provinces also rang me and asked how I was. I would tell them one by one about my situation before and after the cultivation.

I am always strict with myself according to the universal characteristics of Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance during karma elimination, and I am determined to endure the sufferings to eliminate my karma. I would endure physical suffering and cultivate my heart. I would let go of fame, personal interest and sentiment and return to my true self. Master helped me eliminate karma and purify my body, and performed Guanding (pouring energy into the top of my head) many times. Master opened my third eye to encourage me to cultivate. I study the Fa and do the exercises everyday. I changed from a sick person to a healthy person, and all four of my sebaceous cysts also disappeared without a trace. My weight increased from the original 35 kilos to the current 70 kilos; my body weight doubled, and my blood pressure also increased from the original 60/30 to the current 120/90. It also doubled. I no longer need to go to hospitals and have saved medical expenses beyond calculation. The head of the hospital, doctors, nurses and fellow patients all thought I had long died. When I go out with my husband, others always say to my husband jokingly, "Congratulations! You have married a new plump lady." My husband would say, " It is not that I married a plump lady. It is Falun Gong that gave her a new life, to allow her to live as a healthy person." It is Master who gave me a second life. It is Dafa that saved all my family. I'm the most fortunate and happiest person in the world.

I am determined to cultivate Dafa diligently until I successfully reach Consummation.
