Crimes Against Practitioners of Xuanpingbao Township in Wanquan County, Hebei Province

November 8, 2002

(Clearwisdom.net) On July 20, 2002, Falun Gong practitioners Cui Zhanmei, Yan Yun, Huang Jinlian, Wu Xiutao, and Wu Jianmin were studying the Fa at Huang Jinlian's home. At around 1 a.m., about ten officials including He Yanlong, Secretary of the Communist Party of Xuanpinghao, Yan Youfu, Director of the Township Committee, and Yang Yucai, Assistant Director of the Township Police Station attempted to break into Huang's home. They pounded violently at the door and then broke the window on the south side of the house. Realizing that the practitioners would continue to refuse to open the door, they broke more windows and stormed into the house.

Cui Zhanmei and Yan Yun were able to get out through the side door. Because the police would arrest them if they returned to their homes, they were forced to abandon their homes and go from place to place. The three other practitioners were unable to get away in time. The officials pinned them down to the ground, tied up their hands and feet and then proceeded to kick and beat them. Wu Xiutao's arm was broken during the assault. Later on, the officials used the county "610 Office" [a bureau specifically created by the Chinese government to persecute Falun Gong. It has absolute power over each level of administration in the Party, as well as over the political and judiciary branches] and the county police station to hold the three practitioners in the county detention center. Moreover, they stole all of the valuables in Huang's house except for her clothes, a quilt and some other small items, which they threw into the yard. They declared, "Nobody in Huang's family is allowed to live in the township."

We call for people around the world to uphold justice and to help end the persecution of Falun Gong together.
