Falun Gong Practitioner from Toronto Calls for Help to Rescue Her Father (Photo)

My father, Mr. Liu Baoxing, is 63 years old. When he was young, he served in the army. During the hard times, he worked diligently and conscientiously. The hard work caused him to suffer from various illnesses. Later after he retired from the army, he worked in a factory. He suffered from illnesses such as hepatitis, gastric perforation, and gastric inflammation. He was chronically ill. At that time, people were still entitled to free medical care. During the end of 1980s and the beginning of 1990s, many state-own corporations were not doing well, and some even had trouble paying the employees' wages, let alone reimbursing the medical expenses. During that period of time, an average worker's monthly income was about 100 Yuan. My father was not able to get his medical expense of a few thousand Yuan reimbursed, and he did not get paid his salary for over a year. He was in an extremely difficult situation.

In 1994, my father started practicing Falun Gong and never looked back. It was Falun Gong that saved him. After he began practicing Falun Gong, he became healthier and more energetic. His illnesses disappeared and his temper got better. He became kind and pleasant to be around. Since then, he never needed to go to hospital again, which saved a large amount of medical fees for the country. He was able to completely break away from the torture of chronic illnesses. Having benefited from practicing Falun Gong, my father started introducing Falun Gong to people around him. He told people about his own cultivation experiences to let more people benefit from the practice, purify their minds and uplift their spirits. Seeing the building's water pipe needed repair after being neglected for years, my father took the initiative to repair it with others free of charge. Witnessed my father's changes, I also started practicing Falun Gong.

Unfortunately, after July 20, 1999, the authorities started attacking such a wonderful practice. The overwhelming magnitude of deceptive propaganda being spread in newspapers and other media outlets made many people who did not know the facts about Falun Gong start bearing hatred towards Falun Gong. My father felt such anguish. He did not understand why it turned out this way, but he deeply knows that Falun Dafa, which benefited not only him but also a great number of others, is the righteous Fa with high virtue. There is nothing wrong with being a good person and a useful person to society. During that period of time, the police arrested my father and detained him for a few days.

After my father was allowed to return home, he practiced Falun Gong at home. On November 4, 2002, when my father handed Falun Gong truth-clarifying materials to some other people, the policemen from the Xinkaihe police station arrested him. Shortly afterwards, a number of policemen searched my parents' home without a warrant. They confiscated many Dafa truth-clarifying materials. My father displayed his immense perseverance and steadfastness in the police station. He would not bow to the evil and resolutely refused to give up his belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance. The policemen used all kinds of means but were still unable to make my father give in. Two days later, my father was sent to the Hebei Police Substation of the Tianjin Public Security Bureau. We lost track of his whereabouts.

On November 17, my family received a notice from the police station that my father was sentenced to 2 years in a forced labor camp.

I love my father. I immigrated to Canada more than 2 years ago and have not seen my father since. I only heard his voice and felt his smile when I phoned him before. I wish I could see him again, my dear, kind father. But it is impossible right now.

I love my father. He is a good person, a person who loves to help others and does so without seeking personal gain. However, such a good person is imprisoned -- where is the justice?

I love my father. My mother, who is suffering from multiple illnesses, needs my father's care. Since my father was imprisoned, my mother has been in a state of constant anxiety. She does not know whether she will be able to see her husband again.

I hereby appeal to the Canadian government and sincerely hope that the Canadian government will help to rescue my father as well as many other Falun Gong practitioners who are persecuted by the Jiang regime. Please help them to reunite with their families.
