Elderly Practitioner's Righteousness Overcomes Persecution

(Clearwisdom.net) This is a cultivation story of a practitioner with righteous thoughts and righteous deeds. I would like to share it with everyone in hopes that it will encourage all of us.

Since July 20, 1999, vicious people in a certain small town have persecuted Dafa and practitioners to the cruelest extent. From morning until night, cars mounted with high-volume loudspeakers drive through the town, broadcasting slanderous propaganda. The whole town has been infected with the ghastly terror. Over 200 Dafa practitioners have been arrested and jailed. Everyone on the streets is panicky and afraid of getting into trouble. Pedestrians walk quickly.

In such a tense atmosphere, however, a lady who is nearly 70 years old firmly believes in Master and is determined in Dafa cultivation. Every morning she goes to a park to practice the two hours of exercises as though nothing were unusual, and then comes home calmly and confidently. She has been doing this for over three years, even on windy and rainy days. Many times, police cars have parked on the roadside not far from her. Once, the chairman of the Political and Judiciary Committee passed by her and just walked away without interrupting her. When some kind-hearted people out for a morning walk in the park saw the old lady practicing Falun Gong, they were very concerned, saying, "At such an old age, you better not be arrested by the police." Some others gasped with admiration, "Look, this elderly woman is really great. Falun Gong practitioners are being arrested all over town, yet she still has the guts to come out to practice the exercises. How extraordinary!"

After I heard the story, I admired this woman from deep in my heart. One morning, I walked into the park and found her practicing the Falun Gong exercises. Such peace, such composure, and such self-confidence can immediately win an observer's respect. Because the old lady strictly adheres to the standard of a Dafa disciple with righteous thoughts and righteous deeds, she can still practice the Falun Gong exercises outside. None of the persecutors dares to touch her. In this way, she has created an environment where she can openly practice Falun Gong. Her own action has displayed Dafa's dignity and a Dafa disciple's indestructible righteous thoughts and deeds, and thus has validated Dafa.

I think that if we, Dafa disciples, could all comport ourselves with righteous thoughts and deeds, the situation would not be like it is. "A great Arhat in the world, Spirits and ghosts fear the most." (unofficial translation of "Mighty Virtue" from Hongyin, a collection of Teacher's poems) In the face of such righteousness, the evil would disintegrate.
