An Open Letter to UN Human Rights Organizations from Practitioners in China

UN Human Rights Organizations:

We are Falun Gong practitioners who are being persecuted in the Yanbian Autonomous Prefecture, Jilin Province, China. We are appealing to UN Human Rights Organizations to rescue Falun Gong practitioners who are in the midst of a campaign of terror, suffering extreme tortures.

In August 1994, Mr. Li Hongzhi came to Yanbian to personally introduce Falun Gong. Over the next few years, the number of Falun Gong practitioners increased rapidly. We are strict with ourselves in following the principle of Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance. Falun Gong purifies the body and soul and creates a good cultivation environment for us to become better individuals. People who practice Falun Gong in Yanbian are upgrading themselves morally, which is also a benefit to the society as a whole.

The book Zhuan Falun has been translated into Korean and many other languages. With the spread of Falun Dafa all over the world, it is welcomed and respected by people of goodwill and has earned many awards and much support. However, Jiang Zemin, the dictator in China, out of spite and jealousy of Falun Gong's popularity, is carrying out a frenzied persecution of the practitioners and is suppressing good people. Falun Gong practitioners in Yanbian have been deprived of the freedom of belief, freedom of doing exercises, freedom of life, freedom of appealing, and their basic human rights. By using the power of the state and the "610 Office" organization, the authorities are conducting a brutal suppression of Falun Gong practitioners. Many practitioners in Yanbian have been sent to brainwashing classes, mental hospitals, detention centers, forced labor camps, and jails. In the Heizhuizi Forced Labor Camp, the Jiutai Male Forced Labor Camp and the Changchun Jail, several hundreds of Yanbian Falun Gong practitioners are being illegally detained. More are being detained elsewhere in the province. Detained practitioners are deprived of all personal freedom and are watched day and night. Some are kept in tiny dark cells with plastic bags over their heads. Some are hung up for several days and nights. Some are tortured on electric chairs and beaten with electronic prods. Some are not allowed to sleep for many days and nights. Many practitioners become disabled or paralytic from the torture. Some are even tortured to death.

Yanbian practitioner Wang Tiesong is an employee of the Baihe Forest Industry Bureau. In October 2000, he was illegally arrested and sent to the Yanji Forced Labor Camp. He was tortured to death on December 4, 2001. According to witnesses, "When they carried him in, he wasn't breathing at all. His two eyes were wide open---one pupil diffused already while the other eye had sank. His ribs were broken, with wounds all over his body. It looked terrible." We appeal to UN Human Rights Organizations for a delegation to look into this case and punish the murderers.

After Jiang issued the "kill without pardon" order, beginning March 6 of this year, the "610 Office" and police in Yanbian began to arbitrarily seize Falun Gong practitioners on a large scale, and search their homes.

Distinguished UN Human Rights Organizations, we insist on upholding our belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance, we do not return the same when being hit or abused. What is the crime in being a good person? We appeal to the UN Human Rights Organizations to rescue Falun Gong practitioners who are suffering from extreme tortures in Yanbian.

The United Nations is a symbol of peace and justice. We, the persecuted Falun Dafa practitioners in Yanbian, appeal to UN Human Rights Organizations to solve the problem of the Falun Gong persecution in China by sending out representatives to China to immediately act in stopping Jiang Zemin and the "610 Office" in their frenzied persecution of Falun Gong. We also hope that people of goodwill all over the world will use their conscience to distinguish good and evil, right from wrong, and give support to Falun Gong.
