Australian Senator Concerned About the Plight of Falun Gong Practitioners in China

(Clearwisdom.net)

Senator Ursula Stephens

Senator for New South Wales

Monday, 28 October 2002

Dear [Falun Dafa Practitioners],

I read with sympathy your letter of 18 October 2002.

I have been following with concern the treatment of Falun Dafa practitioners in China, and am aware that many practitioners reside in Australia and are separated from their families, anxious about their wellbeing.

The persecution of people on the grounds of their association with a peaceful belief system such as Falun Gong is a terrible abuse of basic human rights. Labor is committed to supporting international human rights standards, which ensure political, religious and cultural freedoms.

I am writing to the Foreign Minister, Mr Alwxander Downer, on your behalf and will forward a copy of this letter to you.

Yours sincerely,

Signature,

Senator Ursula Stephens.
