By a Practitioner from Taiwan

[Note: The following experience sharing report was presented before the publication of Master Li's article, "Righteous Thoughts."]

Greetings Honorable Master and fellow practitioners,

I am Chen Guofeng from Taiwan. What I'd like to talk about today is "Experience of Sending Forth Righteous Thoughts at Close Proximity at the Top of Each Hour Successively"

I. The Beginning

Master instructed practitioners to send forth righteous thoughts at the 2001 Canada Conference. Over a year has passed and the sending forth of righteous thoughts has suppressed and eliminated the evil elements in other dimensions causing disturbance to the Fa-rectification process. Initially, I sent forth righteous thoughts three times every Sunday. A few months ago, I started to send forth righteous thoughts twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening. I thought that I had done my duty.

When the head of the evil visited Germany in April this year, I was in Taiwan. At the suggestion of local practitioners, I increased the number of times of sending forth righteous thoughts during the week. I also read many articles from Dafa websites discussing the experience of fellow practitioners sending forth righteous thoughts in close proximity continuously for twenty-four hours. I realized that I hadn't done enough.

Just as the idea of taking remedial action appeared, I immediately suggested a proposal:

During the crucial moment of assisting Master in Fa-rectification, to increase the power to eliminate the evil;

Expressing support for the disciples in Changchun, Jilin Province, to create new avenues for clarifying the truth;

Cleansing the space around us continuously, to decrease the persecution of our fellow practitioners in Mainland China;

Celebrating the tenth anniversary of Master teaching the Fa, to greet the arrival of the brilliant day when the Fa rectifies the human realm.

I appealed to the practitioners of Yilan County, Taiwan, to send forth righteous thoughts continuously at the top of each hour around the clock on Saturday and Sunday at the end of April.

Thereafter, we again got together for Fa-study and sending forth righteous thoughts continuously twice, on May 13, the tenth anniversary of Dafa's spread by Master, and at the end of May. We gathered together in a practitioner's home. We achieved very good results by sending forth righteous thoughts, studying the Fa, and practicing the exercises continuously for twenty-four hours.

At the beginning of June, when the head of the evil visited Russia and Iceland, a few dozens of Taiwanese practitioners and I launched a 17-day journey for sending forth righteous thoughts in close proximity. At St Petersburg, Russia, Canadian practitioners and we were intricately arranged to be at a location just 100 meters away from the hotel where the head of the evil was residing. We commenced sending forth righteous thoughts, studying the Fa, and practicing the exercises continuously for approximately eighty hours.

In the middle of June, in the capital city of Iceland, we kept sending forth righteous thoughts along with practicing the exercises and promoting Dafa. One evening, I took the opportunity to send forth righteous thoughts while the head of the evil was dining at a restaurant. I chose a vacant piece of high ground and sat down to send forth righteous thoughts in close proximity to the head of the evil.

II. The Process

In April, I began to send forth righteous thoughts as usual during the daytime and at night. I would sleep during the times between sending righteous thoughts. Although it was hard to be in a tranquil state at the moment of waking up, I experienced warmth in my whole body many times during sending forth righteous thoughts at night. Teacher says in Zhuan Falun: "With this body, it is impossible for you not to have any reactions when it is purified all at once." Since matter and mind are one thing, after the cleansing of my own thoughts, the magnificent gong would extend from the microcosm to the surface. I understood that all the reactions in my body were actually normal. We used the time between sending forth righteous thoughts to study Master's teachings of the last ten years. From personal cultivation of upgrading xinxing and eliminating attachments to the cultivation during Fa-rectification, sending forth righteous thoughts and saving sentient beings, I could feel the complete harmony and profundity of Dafa and the complete cleansing of my body. This feeling appeared instantly during sending forth righteous thoughts after Fa study. In the first five minutes during silent recital: "thinking about eliminating the bad thoughts in their minds, karma," the sentence from Zhuan Falun appeared in my mind: "We will purify their bodies and enable them to practice cultivation toward high levels. There is a transition at the lowest level of cultivation practice, and this is to purify the body completely. All of the bad things in your mind, the karmic field surrounding your body, and the elements that make your body unhealthy will be cleaned out." I felt as if the black substance was rapidly expelled from the body. As I recited the latter half of the sentence: "and bad notions or external interference", I suddenly thought about what Master said in Zhuan Falun Volume Two, in "Buddha Nature": "You are your original self which is unchangeable, but humans recognizing materials and events often form concepts, and these concepts are not your true self." [A provisional translation subject to improvement]. This passage clearly points out: Concepts are formed in later life. It is foreign, and is not really your true self. If you want to return to your original nature - you must eradicate your "concepts," which are as important as eradicating external disturbances. When I realize this level of Fa, it appears that these two types of external black substances are also totally cleansed. In the later five minutes I recited: "Imagine you are like a mighty god with a gigantic body." I thought that if I wanted to eliminate the evil within the Three Realms, the body must of course extend beyond the Three Realms and the boundary of the nine planets, and exceeding the boundary of the solar system. Instantly, I felt the capacity of my heart expanding immensely. Master says in Zhuan Falun: "The Three Realms that religions mention refer to the nine levels of heaven or the thirty-three levels of heaven--namely, heaven, Earth, and the underworld..." Master says in the article "The Effects of Righteous Thoughts": "So these countless foreign systems formed tens of millions of dimensional segments within the Three Realms, which became different domains of power, thereby hiding many evil beings." Master also says in Fa-Lecture at the Florida Conference in the U.S.: "Now, when you send forth righteous thoughts, whenever you hold your hand up vertically in front of your chest, the evil beings flee immediately. The gong you send forth even has to search for those evil beings, it searches for them everywhere above and below, and it eliminates them wherever they're found." When I understood the Fa from the above-mentioned three passages of the Fa, I realized that the Three Realms from heaven to the earth where the evil beings are hiding are all covered by our righteous thoughts. Then, I suddenly understood what Master says in the article "Dafa Disciples' Righteous Thought Are Powerful": "When some Dafa disciples see evil beings, they send out Falun and Dafa's divine powers to eliminate them" and what Master says about Falun in Zhuan Falun: "...it emits energy while rotating counter-clockwise," and "Gong as seen by the celestial eye is one type of light." These three passages by Master convey to us what we should do. I immediately thought of the brilliance of the Falun, rotating counter-clockwise in my body, radiating from Yilan County, expanding over Taiwan, the world, straight into the boundary of the nine planets. The Three Realms were completely covered by a sea of light. Suddenly, I had a deeper understanding of the Fa: "the human body is a small universe" and what Master says in describing the great heavenly circuit in Zhuan Falun: "Hundreds of one's energy channels must gradually become wider, with energy getting stronger and brighter. In the end, thousands of energy channels will join together and turn one's body into one without any energy channels or acupuncture points; they will join together to make one whole body." Further, I understood what Master says in "Lunyu", Zhuan Falun: "The Buddha Fa is an insight into all mysteries. It encompasses everything and leaves out nothing--from particles and molecules to the universe, from the even smaller to the even greater" and what Master says in Falun Buddha Fa -- Lectures in the United States, "Isn't the space between atoms and molecules a dimension? ...... Between atoms and atomic nuclei there is a dimension, between atomic nuclei and quarks there is a dimension, and between quarks and neutrinos there is also a dimension." and what Master says in Falun Buddha Law -- Lecture at the Western United States Fa Conference (2/21-22/1999): "When you enter the microcosmic particles of the surface particles of dimensions at any level in other words, enter the layer of particles smaller than that one you are already in the heavens. It's just that the levels of heavens are different, and the microcosmic degree is different." When these three passages of Fa principles were linked together, the aforementioned Three Realms were rapidly immersed in the sea of light of the Falun. When my thought barely covered the level of the molecule, I quickly thought: the energy produced moved towards the various atoms, protons, electrons, quarks, and neutrinos and other levels. This may be referred to as "looking for it from heaven to earth." That is purging the evil at all levels in the other dimensions, the duty of leaving no remnants. The thought discussed above seems to have rushed out in a few seconds "surpassing all time in order to rectify the cosmos." Thereafter I stopped thinking about it and maintained the tranquil state. I also felt that my body had changed immensely from the microcosm to the macrocosm.

III. The Experience

1. Sending forth righteous thoughts is bestowed by Master upon Fa-rectification period Dafa disciples, a special honor and responsibility. The ability to send forth righteous thoughts with a pure heart without omission comes from daily Fa study and practicing the exercises. Master points out in "Drive Out Interference": "...the Fa can strengthen righteous thoughts" and in the Fa-Lecture at the Conference in Florida, U.S.A.: "When a cultivator's mind departs from the Fa, the evil will find its way in." My understanding is that studying the Fa will strengthen our Main Consciousness, and place our mentality within the Fa, maintaining purity and firm righteous thoughts. This is the foundation of sending forth righteous thoughts, just as eliminating attachments will enable one to enter a tranquil state during the meditation.

2. Continuously sending forth righteous thoughts at the top of each hour is interrelated with group Fa study. Sending forth righteous thoughts helps clean out thought karma and notions, and removes impurity and deviations, which makes it easy to study the Fa in a tranquil state. Master says: "The Fa can break all attachments" ("Drive Out Interference"), thus, Fa study will eliminate the ordinary person's notions and enable the divine portion to be more capable of sending forth righteous thoughts. Therefore, Fa study and sending forth righteous thoughts support each other, and neither can be neglected. This is especially true in a group cultivation environment. The immense pure and upright energy field formed can greatly influence us and enable everyone to be immersed in the Fa more quickly.

3. Two important aspects of cultivation during Fa-rectification are clarifying the truth and exposing the evil. After we help sentient beings remove obstacles that cause them to be against Dafa, the results of clarifying the facts about Dafa are more obvious. Sending forth righteous thoughts eliminates the evil in another dimension using gong potency, thus, "intangible and invisible in our dimension" ["Lunyu", Zhuan Falun]. Therefore, sending forth righteous thoughts measures the faith the disciples have towards Master and the Fa, and reveals the disciples' selfless cultivation of compassionate and merciful condition. Shall we do our best as Master taught us or let things pass by haphazardly? Master says in Teaching the Fa at the Great Lakes Fa Conference in North America: "You've tried your best to do what you're supposed to do. Whether you're in China or outside of China, how you perform is the same. There's the same difference in whether you step forward or aren't able to step forward, and in how much you put your heart into this matter of Fa-rectification. It's only that the environments are different."

4. It is a great opportunity for elevation of xinxing to send forth righteous thoughts on the top of each hour continuously for an extended period of time. Drowsiness is a test of willpower. Sore legs are a test of endurance. Hand gestures and sitting posture are tests of whether one can uphold the high standards of Dafa. Seeking ease and comfort is a test of whether you can persistently cultivate to the end. Whether you can detect and eliminate these thoughts as they occur, such as, zealotry, competitiveness, and being eager for success; whether you let seeking comfort and drowsiness overcome you and let sending forth righteous thoughts become a routine are also tests. All these questions reflect exactly "Every pass must be broken through; Everywhere are demons." (Tempering One's Mind and Heart, Hong Yin, provisional translation subject to further improvement). My understanding of sending forth righteous thoughts was essentially to eliminate evil and to rectify the Fa. At the same time, it also tests the purity of the Fa particles, whether they can reach the realm of completely overcoming attachments and leaving out nothing.

5. Treat sending forth righteous thoughts with the right attitude. The editorial on Clearwisdom.net, "Regarding Sending forth righteous thoughts" mentioned, "When sending forth righteous thoughts, after reciting silently the formula it is imperative to maintain pure thoughts." When the purer thoughts become unstable, repeat the formula to refocus the energy, while continuously repeating the formula will affect the tranquility. Over-emphasis on reciting the formula, on the contrary, will limit the effect of the boundary of the energy potency. I realized the underlying principle from reading the following three passages from Zhuan Falun: "Some people believe in setting up a bodily crucible and furnace to make dan from the gathered medicinal herbs and mind activities, and they consider these very important. Let me tell you that they are not at all important, and it is an attachment if you think too much about them. Aren't you attached to a pursuit if you think too much about it?" "Cultivation depends on one's own efforts, while the transformation of gong is done by one's master. It is good enough if you have this wish. It is the master who actually does this, as you are simply unable to do it." "There is no mind activity whatsoever for cultivation at very high levels." "...our cultivation system especially works automatically, and cultivation practice is completely automatic. As long as you upgrade your xinxing, your gong grows. You do not even have to do any exercises", and "The ability to achieve tranquility is gong, and the depth of ding indicates one's level." This also verified that the book Zhuan Falun provides guidance at different levels from beginning to end.

6. The first five minutes to clear the thought karma, concepts, etc. before sending forth righteous thoughts, are actually to return to the original true self, just like how Taoists cultivate the Zhen (true self). As Master says in the article "Dafa Disciples' Righteous Thoughts Are Powerful": "Eliminating evil is thus doing Fa-rectification, and is also saving the world's people and sentient beings." The last five minutes of eliminating evil and saving sentient beings is the cultivation of compassion in the Buddha school. I realized that sending forth righteous thoughts during the Fa-rectification period is actually the cultivation of truth and compassion. While continuously cleansing myself and saving sentient beings, I am elevating to the highest level of my origin.

7. Dafa practitioners are one body. Not every practitioner has the opportunity to send forth righteous thoughts at close proximity to the head of the evil. Also, not every practitioner has the convenient condition to go to the embassy or consulate etc. to send forth righteous thoughts. Master said at the Fa-Lecture at the Conference in Florida, U.S.A., "...so each student has to truly, clearly realize what his responsibility is, and when he sends forth righteous thoughts he has to be able to truly calm his mind and truly produce the effect of righteous thoughts. So this is something extremely critical, extremely important." Master has raised twice the point "every practitioner" and "sending forth righteous thought at the same time." The importance of Dafa practitioners being united and acting simultaneously is, thus, obvious. Master said in the article "Also in a Few Words": "Indestructible righteous faith in the cosmos's Truth forms the benevolent Dafa disciples' rock-solid, Diamond-Like Bodies, it frightens all evil, and the light of Truth it emanates makes the unrighteous elements in all beings' thoughts disintegrate. However strong the righteous thoughts are, that's how great the power is." My experience is that every Fa particle must cleanse itself, eradicate impurities, and radiate more pure brilliant light, which will penetrate the resistance of space and all that was arranged by the old forces. Everyone should be united, tranquil and send forth righteous thoughts and exude the power of the whole body. We must eliminate the remaining evil elements in other dimensions, thereby completing the glorious mission of Fa-rectification.

Finally, let me recite Master's poem "Cleaning Out" to welcome the arrival of Fa-rectification in the human world:

The dark clouds have passed, yet the winds remain fierce;

And though the Red Dragon is slain, humans are still in delusion;

For where there is Evil, there is dark, dense haze.

Dafa disciples, hold your palm erect;

Eliminate the remaining Evil, summon your righteous thoughts;

Clarify the truth, rescue the sentient beings;

Thoroughly annihilate the Evil, and sweep the entire cosmos clean.
