Apple Daily: Lawyers Take to the Streets to Distribute Flyers Against Article 23 (Photo) (Excerpt)

(Clearwisdom.net)

Many well-known lawyers of Hong Kong come to Mong Kok to distribute flyers against Article 23 in the cold and rain

Hong Kong's Apple Daily report: On December 9 2002, a cold front reached Hong Kong. But these legal professionals gave up time with their families and went to the streets of Mong Kok, a crowded area of Hong Kong, to distribute the flyers entitled "Seven Colored Rainbow." The purpose of the flyer was to let the citizens become aware of Article 23. This terrible law will severely infringe upon human rights in Hong Kong.

The consultation period of Article 23 will end in two weeks. A group of legal professionals had already printed seven flyers that raised questions to the proposed legislation by the government. Today, the seven authors from the group appeared in the street to communicate directly with the local citizens. One lawyer said that he wished the government would not ignore the voice of the public.

The Apple Daily is a prominent Chinese-language newspaper based in Hong Kong.
