Falun Dafa practitioners Zhou Yanbo (female) and Qu Jun (female) from Dalian City were arrested by the police at their residence in Tieling City on October 9, 2002. They are still detained at the Tieling City Detention Center. They have been on a hunger strike for nearly two months to protest their illegal detention, and are presently on the verge of death. However, the Tieling City Public Security Bureau still refuses to release them and continues to persecute them.

On November 23, nine Falun Dafa practitioners were arrested while preparing truth-clarifying materials, after an informant reported them to the police. One of the practitioners is Dong Yazhen (female), but the names of the others are not known. At this present time, they are all detained at the Hulan Detention Center. All nine have gone on a hunger strike to protest their illegal detention.

Falun Dafa practitioner Sui Ximin from Mulan County, Heilongjiang Province is about thirty years old and works in Harbin. In April, when he went to see a fellow practitioner, he was arrested by the police in Harbin. It is said that the police searched that practitioner's home and found truth-clarifying materials there. Sui Ximin has been sentenced to one year in a forced labor camp, and is now detained at the No. 1 Big Team of the Changlinzi Forced Labor Camp, thirty miles from Harbin.

In order to achieve the so-called "transforming rate" [quota to be met in "transforming" Falun Dafa practitioners], the Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp tries to force Falun Dafa practitioners to sign their names or press their fingerprints on the "three statements" and the "guarantee letter" drafted by the police [these are statements renouncing Falun Dafa and promising not to practice any more]. All practitioners who do not sign these documents are tortured severely by the police.

Falun Dafa practitioner Zhao Fenglan remained steadfast and refused to give in after being handcuffed, kicked, and tortured with electric batons. As a result, she was attacked by several police officers led by Zang Li (female). They forced Zhao Fenglan to press her fingerprint to the defaming materials, including the "three statements" that they had prepared beforehand. While the police were heady with their "success," Zhao Fenglan quickly seized one copy of the materials and tore it to pieces. Zang Li and the others quickly grabbed the other two copies. Zhao declared that she would disclose their evil deeds to their supervisors and to the public.

Since 2001, the Shanghai Law School (Shanghai Police School) located at Qingpu has held several "610 brainwashing classes" to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. In order to achieve the purpose of forced brainwashing, the "610 Office" staff sends Falun Gong practitioners who do not give up their belief after a certain period of time to the forced labor camp [the "610 Office" is an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems]. After their term for forced labor has come to an end, Falun Gong practitioners who are still determined in their belief are sent directly to the Shanghai Law School for further attempts to brainwash them.
