Dafa Practitioner Chen Xiang in Huangshi City, Hubei Province Dies After Severe Long-Term Persecution

(Clearwisdom.net) Dafa practitioner Chen Xiang, female, in her 50's, was from Huangshi City, Hubei Province. She had suffered severe persecution during the past three years, and she passed away on September 8, 2002.

Chen Xiang was afflicted with numerous illnesses before she practiced Falun Gong. She became healthy after she started to practice Dafa in 1997. She couldn't read before she began practicing, but with the help of fellow practitioners, she was able to read all Dafa books and hand-copied Zhuan Falun.

On April 18, 2000, Chen Xiang went to Tiananmen Square by herself and unfurled a banner which read, "Falun Dafa is good" to validate Dafa. She was arrested and illegally detained at the No. 1 Detention Center in Huangshi City. The guards were afraid of her doing the Falun Gong exercises, so they put shackles on her feet. Chen Xiang's health condition declined greatly and she was having difficulties breathing everyday. She had excessive phlegm and she could hardly sleep at night. She could only sit beside the bed from day to night after she was put in the shackles. In the evening, in order to not affect others' rest, Chen Xiang tried her best not to make any noise from the metal shackles and her pain. Two days later, her feet were swollen and the shackles ate into her flesh. Even so, the guard still refused to take off the shackles. Later, Chen Xiang could no longer bear it; she constantly moaned in the evening and often passed out. The prisoners in the same cell were afraid that she might die, so they called the guard, who took off the shackles. After half a month of illegal detention, the detention center forced her family to pay 2000 Yuan before the family could take her home.

After Chen Xiang returned home, vicious police paid her neighbor 200 Yuan every month to watch her 24 hours a day. On the so-called sensitive days, vicious police would stay near her home to watch her. In July 2000, the police was afraid that Chen Xiang would again go to Beijing to appeal, so they forcibly arrested her and detained her in the Qingtangwan Detention Center in Huangshi City for half a month. Because her family was in a difficult financial situation, having no more money for the detention center, a fellow practitioner paid the money the detention center asked to get her out.

In 2001, in order to arrest Dafa practitioners who had left home to avoid further persecution, police from the "610 Office" watched Chen Xiang's home for many days, and then they arrested Chen Xiang and took her to the Huaxin Hotel, where they coerced and threatened her in order to make her reveal the whereabouts of the homeless Dafa practitioners. They couldn't get anything from her, so they released her.

Ever since the lawless government officials held a brainwashing class in the city, Chen Xiang was arrested and persecuted in the brainwashing class every time there was a session. Because she suffered long-term persecution, her health condition didn't improve, and she passed away on September 8, 2002.
