Mingpao: Citizen Concerns Peak Since Hong Kong's Return to China

(Clearwisdom.net) According to a Mingpao report on December 13, 2002, a survey of Hong Kong citizens reveals that the percentage of Hong Kong people who are concerned about the future of Hong Kong has reached the highest since the district's return to China. This survey was conducted as part of the monitoring process during Hong Kong's transitional period

According to the survey, when asked whether they are worried about freedom, 19% of the respondents said they are a bit worried, 12% are somehow worried, and nearly 10% are very worried.

Scholars who conducted the survey say that Hong Kong citizens' increasing concern over the future of Hong Kong is related to the Hong Kong government's proposal to implement Article 23 of the Basic Law.
