Gong Chengxi is a 24 year-old male university student in his 4^th year at Beijing University of Political Science and Law, in the administration management department at the Changping branch. He lived in Urumqi City, Xinjiang Province.

Gong Chengxi is a steadfast Falun Gong practitioner who was kidnapped to Tuanhe Forced Labor Camp in Beijing. He has been detained in the "training unit" twice and persecuted. On one occasion his term was extended for 10 months without cause.

Every brigade in Tuanhe Forced Labor Camp uses the "intensified class" as a method to force brainwashing on firm Falun Gong practitioners. Practitioners are sent to a building in the west compound and are accompanied by collaborators [former Falun Gong practitioners who have gone astray due to brainwashing and torture]. They are closely monitored even when they go to the bathroom. They separate the firm practitioners into "special" classes and collaborators assist in trying to "reform" them through brainwashing techniques. Every day practitioners are surrounded by several collaborators and deprived of sleep. They are tormented until midnight, and at times even until 2 or 3 am.

In order to compromise the integrity of steadfast practitioners, policemen first make up some excuses, then arrange for a few collaborators to surround practitioners in a circle, and in turn read articles and materials that slander Falun Gong and Teacher. When it was Gong Chengxi's turn, he sternly refused to read the slandering materials. The "intensified classes" use many forms of torture to persecute practitioners, including tying them to beds at night for weeks or months on end, and confining them in cramped metal cages. This is exceptionally uncomfortable in the summer, due to the fact that one cannot stand up straight, there is very poor ventilation and the mosquitoes are almost unbearable. Practitioners are also cuffed and hung up, tortured with electric batons and forced to stand for long periods of time. The list goes on and on.

The common physical punishments that every brigade uses are squatting and/or standing for long periods of time facing a wall. This often exhausts people. They are also deprived of sleep for 10 days or longer and forced to run around a large field dozens of times, (when normally three times is the maximum for the morning exercise).

The last method used on practitioners that refuse to renounce Falun Gong is to extend their already illegal terms.

Policemen also tried to intimidate practitioners through their families. However Gong Chengxi used this chance instead to expose the evil persecution to his parents. The scars on his body powerfully explained the viciousness and hypocrisy of the so-called "assistance and education" and "reform," and inspired the righteous thoughts of his family.

The righteous faith and righteous thoughts of Gong Chengxi have helped many other persecuted practitioners find their existing problems, and also strengthened the courage and confidence of others to resist the persecution. Recently Gong Chengxi was released from the forced labor camp.

Falun Gong practitioners and kind-hearted people around the world will pay close attention to Gong Chengxi's situation in order to help him avoid further persecution.
