An Example of Rejecting Harassment with Righteous Thoughts and Righteous Actions

(Clearwisdom.net) Since July 20, 1999, during so-called politically sensitive times such as Chinese New Year, holidays and important political meeting days, police all over China frequently stage campaigns to go to the homes of Falun Gong practitioners to apply pressure and harass them.

We felt that this might be related to practitioners' passive acceptance. Teacher told us, "No matter what the situation, do not cooperate with evil's demands, orders or what it instigates. If everyone does this the environment won't be this way." ("Dafa Disciples' Righteous Thoughts Are Powerful") While clarifying the truth, rejecting the harassment with righteous thoughts and righteous acts and leaving no freedom for the police to help the evil doing the bad deeds, is not only the demand of Fa-rectification but also the most basic of human rights for every citizen.

The following is the action that one practitioner took:

After the police were rejected at the door several times, they came to the practitioner's work unit and found him.

Police: We went to your home, why didn't you open the door?

Practitioner: Did I violate any law?

Police: Even if you did not violate any law, you still should cooperate with us.

Practitioner: The constitution says every citizen has the freedom of living at home, the freedom of living at home without being harassed and the freedom of choosing whether to receive a guest. It is immoral for you to force a citizen to receive a guest. You treat citizens as the receiver of monitoring and arrange people to monitor, control and patrol around lawful citizens. These are serious violations of the constitution. I have the right to reject it.

Police: You are living in China. China has its own situation.

Practitioner: The Chinese Constitution states that nobody has the right to violate the Constitution, including the president of the country. We call ourselves a country ruled by law, which one should dominate, the law or the situation?

Police: My superior issued the order. You have to obey.

Practitioner: Who is your superior? Whoever has the most power should prevail? Are you going to beat whomever "Big Brother" orders you to beat? This is exactly the logic of the mafia. Mao Zedong, Deng Xiaoping, Hu Yaobang, Zhao Ziyang, which one of them never went up and down? Today's "Right" is tomorrow's "Wrong". I think it is better to base every thing on principles and reason. You should think on your own what you should do. Whatever you incur you will have to make restitution for eventually.

Police: We have no opinion about national matters and we don't have a clear understanding either. But you should understand us and cooperate with us.

Practitioner: The understanding should be mutual. I understand that you are just doing your job. You should understand that I just have my beliefs. Mutual understanding! Nobody interferes with one another. If I have needs, I will look for you and you don't have to come to my home. If you want to come to my home, you have to follow legal procedure. We are not friends. Your coming to my home is a harassment and violation of the law. Everything you do will be recorded.

Police: Do you think it is possible to turn your situation around?

Police: Can your case (Falun Gong) be reversed?

Practitioner: A righteous thing will not become evil because it has been attacked. The thing that appears to be weak can surpass the thing that appears to be strong. The thing that seems soft can overcome the thing that seems to be firm. This is the law of the development of society. What hasn't been reversed in China? Even the Rightists [Note: the Rightists refers to the people who criticized the Party in 1957 in China and were then persecuted afterwards until the end of the Cultural Revolution] had been reversed. What about the one-thirteenth of the country's population striving to be better people? No matter how stubborn you are, there is ultimately always reason and truth. Eventually everything will meet with justice..

Police: Maybe we will be friends in the future.

Practitioner: When that day comes, I'll certainly invite you to my home and you will be my guest.
