"RESCUE OUR FAMILIES" - Walk in New York City

PART OF A GLOBAL CAMPAIGN EFFORT TO RESCUE FALUN GONG PRACTITIONERS ILLEGALY IMPRISONED IN CHINA

NEW YORK, DECEMBER 4, 2002. This Saturday, December 7th, at 9:00 AM, six New Yorkers will tell the city of New York about the situation of their family members who are currently held in prison and labor camps in China.

On this day, hundreds of Falun Gong practitioners will gather in front of the United Nations to attend a press conference that will kick off the walk. Immediately following the press conference friends, community leaders, elected officials and others will join these New Yorkers to walk all across Manhattan. While walking they will be asking New Yorkers to join in the "Global Rescue Campaign: Help Bring Our Families Home."

In China many families whose loved ones are imprisoned are afraid to speak out for fear that they, themselves, may lose their jobs, be harassed or even imprisoned. Residents living in the United States have also felt pressure to dissociate themselves from family members who practice Falun Gong. Many have been threatened that they will lose their visas or make the lives of family members currently in China worse.

The situation for those who practice Falun Gong in China is even worse. They lose their jobs, homes, families, and friends with many of them even losing their lives.

An Appeal in America

This year, American Falun Gong practitioners are appealing to Americans to stand united with these families and to give these families a voice that will be heard. These New Yorkers have the courage to speak out for their loved ones. We are hoping that you will have the courage as well. The situation is urgent because these family members have been imprisoned for months, others years with no definitive end in sight.

The families that are asking for help in this rescue effort only represent a small number of those who have been affected by Jiang Zemin's persecution of Falun Gong in China and around the world.

Please join us in this rescue effort by walking with us or by checking out the website:
