[Beijing] Unknown Female Practitioner is Killed (Updated)

A twenty-two-year-old female practitioner, whose identity is unknown, was tortured to death on November 3, 2001. A description of this woman is the only identification available. She was five feet three inches tall, had short hair, was dressed in red clothing (red pants, red socks, and red outer garment) and she spoke fluent Mandarin. On October 26, 2001, she went to Tiananmen Square in order to validate Falun Dafa, but was arrested and illegally detained by the Beijing Police Department, at the Dongcheng Sub-station. She had been on a hunger and water strike from the beginning of her detention until the time of her death on November 3, 2001. The police at Dongcheng Sub-station dealt with her death secretly. [Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] Falun Dafa Practitioner Xiao Ailing Protests with an Eighty day Hunger Strike

Xiao Ailing, a Falun Dafa practitioner, who is detained in Daqing Detention Center, has been on a hunger strike for more than eighty days. Her weight has dropped to 77 pounds, yet she still insists on practicing Falun Gong. Because she refused to give up her belief, she was beaten and tortured. She was handcuffed to the iron chair by the police for three days. [An "Iron Chair" is a torture device. For a detailed description of this device see http://www.clearwisdom.net/emh/articles/2002/1/9/17577.html]. She was beaten by the Assistant Superintendent, Bai Yunshan, and another official, Han Yonghong. She was brutally force-fed, causing her to bleed from her nose and her mouth. At the present time, Xiao is still on a hunger strike, but has not wavered in her belief and continues to practice Falun Gong.

We hope that righteous people all over the world become aware of this and appeal to the perpetrators to mend their misguided ways.

[Liaoning Province] Fa Rectification Observed in a City of Liaoning Province

In a city of Liaoning Province, Falun Dafa practitioners consolidated their time and activities in order to reach many people in a wide area, from downtown to the countryside. In two or three days they delivered a large amount of Falun Dafa truth clarifying literature to thousands of families and posted flyers everywhere. Overnight, one village of Lidao town in this city was transformed with colorful flyers and banners posted on all the doors and walls. Everyone is happily talking about Falun Dafa.

[Fushun City, Liaoning Province] Dozens of Falun Dafa Practitioners from Fushun City Begin a Hunger Strike

Dozens of Falun Dafa practitioners are detained on three floors of the northern side of Fushun No. 2 Hospital. To protest their illegal detention, the practitioners began a hunger strike. However, because of their hunger strike, they have been force-fed. They have no escape because policemen guard the building's iron gate.

[Heilongjiang Province] A Personal Account of Persecution in Heilongjiang Province

In July 2001, police from the police station of a farm in Heilongjiang Province launched another wild spree of persecution directed at Falun Dafa practitioners. They arrested, beat, sent to labor camps, fined the practitioners, and harassed and detained the family members of practitioners. All of these actions are against the law.

In July 2001, I went to southern China to work, along with several other people. The police found out that we left and went to our family members to find out where we were. They even detained our family members, and then extorted large sums of money from them-- 5000 to 8000 Yuan (the average salary of a Chinese urban worker is 500 yuan per month)--with the excuse that we had gone to Beijing to appeal. Some family members were detained as long as two months.

On our way to southern China, the police redirected us around Qinhuangdao City, taking us to the local police station where they beat us and forced us to admit that we wanted to go to Beijing to appeal. If we refused to say what they wanted, they would cruelly torture us. One of us could not bear the torture, and admitted that we had gone to Beijing because this is what the police forced him to say. One of the policemen pointed to another policeman who had fiercely beat us, and said: "You are doing good, you will get more bonus." These greedy police extorted hard-earned money from practitioners.

Falun Dafa practitioners went to Beijing to appeal. If they were arrested in Beijing, the Beijing police would not report to the leadership, but rather they would notify the police from the practitioner's hometown, requiring them to pay a large amount of money to take the practitioners back. Then the police of the hometown would extort this same amount of money from the practitioners and refuse to provide a receipt. The greedy police lined their pockets with the money extorted from innocent practitioners.

[Fuzhou City, Fujian Province] Fuzhou City Continues to Arrest many Practitioners

On December 7, 2001, police from the Fuzhou Police Department arrested practitioner Chen Jin in a friend's home. Chen's whereabouts are unknown at this time.

On January 11, 2002, police arrested practitioner Yang Mei without any reason. Yang Mei has been illegally held for over three days as of now.

On September 30, 2001, Fuzhou Custom Official Chen Ridong, a Falun Dafa practitioner, was arrested at his home. During the detention period, police utilized various methods to entice, bully and torture him. They prevented him from sleeping for several days and nights. He was even deprived of his legal right to meet with his lawyer. He still remains in detention.

At the beginning of December 2001, the Fuzhou Police arrested a total of six practitioners, including a mother and son, Zheng Meimei and Zheng Jianhua (city transit company driver), Chen Yuwen, Pan Lianhe (a retired employee) and others. All of them were arrested at their homes. The police illegally interrogated them and subjected them to severe abuse, such as standing for long periods of time, and depriving them of sleep. Zheng Meimei and Zheng Jianhua are still in detention.

[Shanghai] Hatchet Men Who Slander Dafa

A slanderous article about Falun Dafa appeared on page three of the "Xinmin Evening Paper," dated Wednesday, January 23, 2002. Interested and kindhearted people may appeal to the responsible parties: Wang Hengtao and Zhai Wei, were the reporters from Xinhua News Agency.
