The Persecution of Falun Gong Brings Huge Financial Loss to China By Longyan (Clearwisdom.net) In 1998, the Chinese government conducted a survey among Falun Gong practitioners in Beijing,
Guangzhou, and Wuhan, and reported the survey result to the Politburo. The survey concluded that
Falun Gong had a positive impact on the population. The Beijing survey group consisted of 14,199
practitioners of which 12,731 valid answer-sheets were drawn from. The result: Falun Gong was shown
to have an effective rate of 99.1% in curing diseases. Most respondents experienced moral upgrade,
and an improvement in family and social relations. The result also revealed that this sample saved
41.7 million Yuan RMB [average monthly pay of an urban worker is 500 Yuan] each year in
medical costs, which indicated that each one saved 3,270 Yuan per year. At that time, the government
published that the total number of Falun Gong practitioners in China reached 70-100 million. If we
calculate the cost savings for 70 million practitioners, China can save at least 200 billion Yuan
each year. This money can strengthen the State finances, and can be invested in national
developmental projects. Meanwhile, all these healthy people can work energetically, boost
productivity and profitability for China. Therefore, Falun Gong can benefit people's health and
improve morality, save on huge medical costs, benefit the economic development of the country, and
stabilize society. However, Jiang initiated the political persecution of Falun Gong out of his own jealousy and
selfishness. He used all the manpower, materials, and financial capabilities of the country. He took
a huge amount of money out of the State Treasury many times, which caused huge pressure on the State
finances, and thus weakening the economy. According to an overseas report on February 27th, 2001,
Jiang used 4 billion Yuan for wiretapping and monitoring Falun Gong practitioner's phones. In
December 2001, the Public Security Bureau claimed that Jiang used 4.2 billion Yuan for the creation
of brainwashing camps [in order to force Falun Gong practitioners to give up their belief.]
Unfortunately, the general public does not know the exact amount of the nation's financial resources
that Jiang extracted for his campaign in persecuting Falun Gong [such as the designated jails for
Falun Gong practitioners.] The persecution of Falun Gong has disturbed the entire nation. Besides the special funds, the
daily expense on persecuting Falun Gong is even bigger. In the beginning of January 2001, the Public
Security Bureau reported that the daily cost of persecuting Falun Gong practitioners at Tiananmen
Square is between 1.7-2.5 million Yuan, i.e., 6.25-9.125 billion every year. Besides the heavy security at Tiananmen Square, the police are stationed everywhere to monitor
Falun Gong practitioners. The nation is surrounded by Xinhua News Agency, CCTV, People's Daily, and
local newspapers that constantly fabricate lies about Falun Gong. The "610 Office" [an
agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of
administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems] is established all
over China. There were different kinds of petitions and exhibits that slandered Falun Gong. Every
work unit and neighborhood administration monitored Falun Gong practitioners. There were at least
several million people involved in these vicious activities. These people's pay, which includes
salaries, bonuses, overtime pay, and "rewards", should be around 100 billion Yuan (it is
hard to estimate, but this number should not be too far). Part of this amount comes from the State
Treasury, from the local government, from the financial robbery of Falun Gong practitioners (such as
huge fines), and a small amount is from the fines to Falun Gong practitioner's employer. The persecution of Falun Gong far exceeds the boundary of China. Each of China's embassies and
consulates printed and circulated many materials to slander Falun Gong. They hosted many conferences
and exhibitions to defame and criticize Falun Gong. The State Security Bureau sent many special
agents to damage Falun Gong via Internet, to collect information of Falun Gong activities, and to
harass overseas Falun Gong practitioners. Embassies and consulates bribed many overseas Chinese
websites, Chinese newspapers, and Chinese radio stations. Jiang spent large amounts in exporting his
political persecution of Falun Gong abroad. But what he will get in return is the condemnation by
kindhearted people in the world. Inside the Public Security Bureau, information reveals that 1,600 Falun Gong practitioners have
been tortured to death, up till the end of October 2001. Many practitioners have been illegally
detained in labor camps, police stations, mental hospitals, or prisons. Many practitioners are
destitute, while others cannot work, study or live a normal life. Both country and household are
suffering huge financial losses. Jiang disobeyed the law by persecuting innocent people, Falun Gong. He weakened the legitimacy of
the government in the eyes of the people and corrupted the legal system. Society lacks stability
because it lacks a compassionate and truthful leader. Jiang called for ceaseless heavenly
punishments and man-made disasters in China. These man-made disasters caused huge damage to China's
economy and hampered long-term growth. All these have weakened the Chinese market and emptied the
State Treasury, thus causing investors to lose confidence in China's potential development. The
Chinese economy is fast approaching the limit of collapse under Jiang's tyranny. Posting date: 2/21/2002 |
