(Clearwisdom) Not long ago, a practitioner told me the following story about how repeated retribution changed a non-practitioner's attitude towards Dafa.

A middle-aged practitioner and her husband live in a city in northern China. The husband is quite well educated. However, he was very much attached to what he knew and had acquired certain notions that impeded him from understanding Dafa. His wife is solid in her faith in Dafa, since she has benefited a great deal from her cultivation. After the campaign of suppression against Falun Gong began, the husband was influenced by the evil propaganda and became even more negative towards Dafa. He slandered Dafa and Teacher. His wife repeatedly and patiently told him to stop doing that and warned him of retribution, but he refused to listen.

In the winter of 2000, the wife was arrested while clarifying the truth. The husband, though not supportive of his wife's activities, paid a fine of 3,000 Yuan [Chinese currency, the monthly salary for an average Chinese urban laborer is about 500 Yuan] and got her out of the jail. Not realizing that it was the old forces that imposed the persecution, he scolded his wife immediately when he saw her in the detention center, "It is all because you practice Dafa...." Before he finished, he fell flat on his back and hit his head against the concrete stairs. However, he was not injured. His wife told him, "If it were not for Teacher's benevolence, you could have lost your life or become disabled." The husband seemed to be touched by what his wife said and murmured to himself, "That is quite true. I did feel cushioned when my head hit the ground."

About six months later, his wife attended a Dafa Experience Sharing Conference. She came home to see her husband sitting on a chair, pointing his finger at her. He went on to slander Dafa and Teacher. His wife said calmly, "Please close your evil-controlled mouth. You will receive retribution if you go on like this." Before she could finish, the husband suddenly fell to the ground. After the fall, he did not say anything anymore. He said nothing during dinner and did not watch television that night.

Two weeks later, the wife found that all the Dafa posters on the door of their house were torn off. That night, the husband was cooking in the kitchen. As he was turning on the electric stove, fire leapt out from between the wires. The fire spread rapidly, and he was scared. He thought, "What if there is an explosion? How many people will be injured if that happens?" Right after this thought, the fire was gone. Breathing a sigh of relief, he found eight blisters on his right hand, and his left hand was covered with painful burns. He told his wife what had happened and showed his hands to her. His wife responded, "This is the retribution for tearing the Dafa posters off the door. You must have used your left hand to do it." The husband was surprised, 'How did you know?" The wife said, "Look at the wounds on your left hand. Don't you understand that it is the third time that Teacher has shown his benevolence towards you? If you still don't repent, you will lose your life one day."

The husband thought about the two incidents that happened before and was finally convinced of the power of Dafa and the benevolence of Teacher. Since then, he not only supports his wife's practice, but also actively helps his wife in clarifying the truth as well as distributing and posting flyers and posters in the building complex. He even clarifies the truth to the police. Also, whenever he hears people say bad things about Dafa, he will share his understanding and help these people realize that Falun Dafa is good.
