UK MP's Letter to Her Constituents Supporting Falun Gong

Dear Len and Helen,

Thank you for visiting me at my surgery in Park Barn last month to discuss concerns over human rights and the persecution of Falun Gong followers in China.

I have signed an Early Day Motion tabled in support of Falun Gong followers.

Friends of Falun Gong Europe have organised a seminar ... on Human Rights Abuses in China.

...

I have written to the Falun Gong Europe [Friends of Falun Gong Europe] to ask if they can provide me with any briefing material... and update me on action that parliamentarians can take to help their campaign to end the persecution of Falun Gong followers.

The award of the 2008 Olympic Games to Beijing means that China will be under increasing scrutiny from foreign press and governments. This provides an important opportunity for the British government and human rights campaigners to insist on an end to detentions, tortures and executions in China. I hope that the seminar will initiate a strong cross-party approach to taking advantage of this opportunity.
