(Clearwisdom.net) 1. [China] 610 Office Distributes Jiang's Directive to Persecute Falun Gong
Practitioners Using "A Cycle of Release and Arrest"
The 610 Office distributed Jiang's directive to the police departments across
China describing a system called "Cycle of Release and Arrest." That
is, those who do not give up practicing Falun Gong will be put in forced labor
camps or prison. Those who have been released from detention will be sent to
brainwashing classes before they are allowed to go home. If they do not give up
their beliefs, they will be returned to the labor camps or prisons. It is a
cycle that you can never get out of. The most recent news from China, posted on
Clearwisdom.net, describes many practitioners being arrested soon after they
were released, which clearly demonstrates that the new policy has been put into
action.
The police will probably conduct a large-scale search and arrest of
practitioners right before the Chinese People's Political Consultative
Conference of the National Congress. The 610 Office and the Department of Public
Security have sent out people to distribute Jiang's directive and supervise the
local suppression activities. In each province, city, and county, a team has
been established to supervise the overall suppression of Falun Gong.
2. [Qinghai Province] Practitioners Go to Remote Areas in Qingzang Plateau to
Clarify the Truth
Around the Chinese New Year, in order to further clarify the truth to people
in China, some practitioners went to remote areas in Qinghai Province, which are
mostly on the Qingzang Plateau. They sent VCDs and booklets explaining the true
stories of Falun Gong as well as small posters, large banners, and truth
clarifying literature wrapped in red paper to people's doors, effectively
revealing the truth to them and shocking the evil forces. Two practitioners,
however, were arrested and still haven't been released.
3. [Beijing] My Wife, Detained in Chongwen District Detention Center Is in
Critical Condition From Not Eating or Drinking for 28 Days to Protest Her
Illegal Detention
My wife and I are practitioners in China. On February 4, 2002 my wife was
stopped by the police while walking in Tiananmen Square. They asked her some
questions and then took her away in a police van. After many days of inquiry and
searching, I learned that she was detained at the Chongwen District Detention
Center. Her registration number is T235. She hasn't had any food or water for 28
days and is in critical condition. I have called the head of the detention
center Zhang Hongwei and talked to him many times, but he refuses to set her
free. Here I am asking for help from people in society and the world human
rights organizations.

4. [Huaihua City, Hunan Province] The Police Madly Beat Female Practitioners
Around 4 a.m. on Chinese New Year's Day in 2002, four practitioners were
arrested while hanging up banners along the Yanhe Road in Huaihua City, Hunan
Province. The police insulted them and beat them. An elderly female practitioner
Yi Huanmei was kicked in the back and fell to the ground. When she stood up, the
police kicked her again. She fell down and then stood up again. The police
kicked her again. Her forehead bumped on the cement road. The police kicked and
punched at her head, back, chest, and legs. They grabbed her by the hair and
started hauling her towards a police van. Meanwhile, she was calling out,
"Falun Dafa is good." The police carried her for about 20 to 30 meters
while beating her at the same time. At the door of the van, they again punched
and kicked her countless times. After shoving her into the van, they hit her
head three times with a baton.
A tall policeman kicked and punched a petite female practitioner. He grabbed
her arms and pulled them close together so that they were almost in a straight
line. He placed one foot on her back and handcuffed her. He then beat her again
and shut her in the police van.
A practitioner called Teng Yun was dragged to a corner by a group of police.
They beat her madly for over 10 minutes. She was in a terrible state after the
beating. One of the policemen that participated in this brutal action is Huang
Shaohua.
5. [Jiaohe City, Jilin Province] Practitioners Have Been on Hunger Strike for
More than 20 Days
Falun Gong practitioner Wu Dexiu was illegally sentenced to one year of
forced labor for going to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong in 2000. His
determination to cultivate Falun Gong led to a more than 4-month extension to
his detention. In November 2001, the police tricked him into visiting the police
station in Songjiang Town, Jiaohe City, saying he'd be coming in for a
"conversation" but illegally detained him for over a month. Just
before this year's Chinese New Year, policeman suddenly broke into Wu's home to
find him reading Falun Dafa books. The police once again forcibly arrested and
escorted him to the detention center. Wu refused to cooperate with the police,
going on a hunger strike to oppose the brutal persecution. So far the hunger
strike has lasted for over 20 days. Wu has been force-fed a highly concentrated
saline solution many times. Now he is so weak that he is not able to stand up.
His health is in a desperate condition, yet the police provide no medical care
nor do they release him.
Practitioner Ye Yongming from Jiaohe has also been on a hunger strike for
over 20 days. His health has been dramatically affected and is now in a
desperate situation. Wang Shuyuan (female), Fu Xian (female) and two other
unknown practitioners are also on a hunger strike to oppose the unjustifiable
detention. We hope that international human right groups and all people with a
sense of justice will give them support and pay attention to their plight.
6. [Southern China] Dafa Banners Appear Close to Where the Evil Gathers
On February 24, 2002, Falun Dafa practitioners from a city in the south of
China put up several big banners at the City Hall Hostel, which is right next to
the City Hall, bearing words such as: "Falun Dafa Is Good!"
"Return Our Teacher's Reputation!" Dafa banners were found on many
streets and avenues. In particular, the banners displayed near places such as
the Bureau of Public Security, the Courthouse, City Hall and police stations,
places where the evil gathers, effectively overwhelm the evil and awaken the
people.
7. [Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province] Police Act Against Law and Public
Opinion
The Anshun Police Station at Qiqihar City arrested a large group of Falun
Gong practitioners in October 2001. At the specific request of the station
director, the police persecute Dafa practitioners widely. A few such cases are
presented below.
(1). Illegal detention of practitioners for long periods of time. The police
handcuffed practitioners' hands to heat radiators for as long as 50-60 hours.
(2). Roughing up. Aushun police arrested practitioners without regard to the
legality of the situation. The police then violently beat the practitioners.
Female Practitioner Li Shujie from the Education College was beaten so badly
that her face was bashed in, and her lower back was damaged so that she was not
able to move. However, the police still continued to torture her. Li was beaten
to the point of losing control of her bowels and bladder. The police even
claimed, "We are an organ of the dictatorship." After practitioner
Yang Jie was arrested, evil police used an iron shovel to beat her stomach.
Torture such as "Cuffed and Hung up" [With both hands cuffed, both
feet off or only toes touching the ground, one is hung onto the beam of the
house by the handcuffs. The hands and arms will soon become numb.] is often
used. Yang Jie suffered so much from cuffing and hanging that she was not able
to manage her life for several days because her hands and feet were severely
swollen. The police hung practitioner Wang Yuxian for a whole night before they
released her handcuffs.
(3) They are maltreating practitioners by every means. The police did not
permit practitioners to use a toilet for 24 hours, nor did they give
practitioners any water. They even withheld food that relatives had brought to
the practitioners. Around midnight the police opened the faucet to let
practitioners listen to the water flowing. The police then whistled while
beating practitioners and laughed.
(4). Acting wildly against the law and public opinion: Practitioner Wang
Yuxian is single, with no one at home when she was arrested. The police used the
excuse of searching for Dafa materials to open her door with a master key and
stole 600 Yuan in cash [about one month's salary for an average urban worker in
China] and a gold ring. The police detained practitioners for a long period of
time and would not release them until their relatives paid a "security
fee" of several thousand Yuan.
8. [Zibo City, Shandong Province] Unlawful Acts of the Mineral Bureau
The major means of illegally persecuting Falun Gong practitioners include:
(1). Using force to send practitioners to psychiatric hospitals.
(2). Illegally detaining or placing practitioners under house arrest multiple
times.
(3). Illegally charging fines, ransacking practitioners' homes, expelling
practitioners from their jobs, and stopping their salaries.
(4). Illegally kidnapping practitioners and detaining them multiple times.
(5). Force-feeding practitioners, slapping them in their faces.
(6). Illegally sentencing practitioners to prison or forced labor without any
legal procedure.
(7). Forced brainwashing, forcing practitioners to read materials that defame
Falun Dafa.

9. [Xuchang City, Henan Province] A Practitioner's Mother Describes The
Persecution of Her Son in a Forced Labor Camp
My son Wu Zhongming went to Beijing on August 17, 1999 and legally appealed
for Falun Dafa. Authorities illegally sentenced him to one year in Sanmenxia
Forced Labor Camp in Henan Province. On October 22, 2001, they extended his
sentence to one more year and sent him to Xuchang City Third Forced Labor Camp
on October 26, 2001. Before entering the door of the camp, my son said, "I
am not a criminal." The police brutally beat him, injuring his head and
leaving a two-inch long cut that bled profusely.
The police finally let me visit him. My son is so skinny now. All of his hair
has turned gray from his head wound. I asked the police what happened to him,
and they replied that they did not know. Then I heard that my son had gone on
hunger strike three or four times in order to protest the prison's torture.
Falun Dafa practitioners are suffering extreme physical and mental tortures that
ordinary people could not tolerate.
10. [Qinghai Province] Practitioners Salute Western Practitioners Who Went to
Beijing to Rectify the Fa
It was great for you to go to Tiananmen Square to validate the Fa. Your
actions manifested the greatness of Falun Dafa to the world and exposed the
"living hell" of Jiang's regime internationally.

11. [Beijing] Police Behave Shamelessly at a Brainwashing Class
In May 2001, a Beijing practitioner was caught by police and taken to a
brainwashing class. The class was guarded by police and squad cars. Iron doors
and window bars entrapped those within. Nobody could go in and out arbitrarily.
It was actually a temporary prison. They used many measures to torture
practitioners, including sleep deprivation. The most shameful thing was that
they put Teacher's picture on the ground and carried practitioners over and
forced them to squat on it. They also cursed dirty words. When they saw that
could not affect the practitioner, they shamelessly put Teacher's picture into
their pants and shoes, etc. They attempted to force practitioners to sign
statements that they would give up the practice.
12. [Mainland China] Elderly Lady Spreads Falun Dafa and Saves People Despite
Her Own Poverty
Zhao is a 67-year-old lady whose husband died very young and who herself used
to have many illnesses. Falun Dafa benefited her both mentally and physically,
making her completely healthy. She receives only 395 Yuan per month as her
retirement pension. [The average monthly salary for an urban Chinese worker
is about 500 Yuan.] She often spent what little money she had traveling to
spread Dafa. She went to Beijing to appeal for Dafa. Authorities required her
work unit to bring her back from Beijing after she was arrested there, for which
they deducted 58 Yuan per month from her pension as "travel cost." She
had to use the 300 Yuan remaining to support her son who lost his job due to
illness. However, Zhao still often spent money on Falun Dafa material. Since
August 2001, Zhao has spent 600 Yuan on Dafa material. Taken to a brainwashing
class, the illiterate Zhao was tricked into signing a document pledging to quit
the practice. When she learned of this, she was so regretful that she cried
everyday and announced twice that the pledges were invalid. Zhao is actively
participating in activities of rectifying the Fa and clarifying the truth to
this day. She went downtown to distribute Dafa material and post banners. She
said, "Dafa gives me my life. I will spread the Fa and save people no
matter how poor I am. I want to recover the damage to Dafa caused by my
omission. No matter how hard it is, I would like to help more people be saved. I
would like to cultivate to the realm of selflessness .
