Some of My Understandings of Clarifying the Truth

(Clearwisdom.net) I am a Falun Dafa practitioner who has been forced into homelessness (in China) to avoid being illegally arrested. I usually clarify the truth by just talking to people and handing out truth-clarifying literature whenever I can. I had successful experiences and lessons of failure, and I would like to share some of my understandings with my fellow practitioners.

Be Confident

Teacher said, "I often say that if all a person wants is the well-being of others and if this is without the slightest personal motivation and understanding, what he says will move the listener to tears." (From Teacher's article, "Sober-Minded," June 13, 1997) We should be confident that we have the ability to reach people before we clarify the truth to them. We don't have any personal goals. What we are doing is completely selfless and only for the sake of those people, who also realize that we are doing this under extremely difficult circumstances. Besides, we are using the side of ourselves that has obtained the Fa when doing this, so people will generally be moved, as long as they have a little bit of kindness in their hearts.

Eliminate the Evil

Dafa practitioners are rectifying the Fa, so the evil beings will try all means to interfere with our efforts, such as causing our audience to be unreceptive or to even resist our efforts. In addition, as a result of over two years of deceitful propaganda, many people have become brainwashed to a certain degree. However, as long as we actively send forth the righteous thoughts to eradicate the evil that manipulates people prior to clarifying the truth, we will achieve very good results in exposing the evil and in clarifying the truth.

Be Flexible

We can use whatever means are appropriate in clarifying the truth, as long as we can achieve the goal of saving people. For example,

• for those who have a kind heart but have been deceived, we can let them voice their opinions. Then we can use numerous facts, disclosing the evil regime's fabrications and persecution, to correct those people's misunderstandings. We can reason with them. We also need to kindly but firmly point out the serious results that will occur if they do not change their misguided notions. We should give them the opportunity to raise questions, so that we can more accurately target their misunderstandings, in order to promote the Fa in clarifying the truth. We should not be overanxious for quick results. Through our patient and repeated explanations, most of them will come to understand the truth.
• For those who used to think Dafa was good but who were then confused by the propaganda, we can directly answer their questions and clarify the truth from all perspectives to remove their doubts and to help them change their attitudes.
• For dealing with those who have led very cautious lives, or who were persecuted in previous political movements, we need to help them relax, so that they can show their kind hearts without fear. It will be easier for them to understand the Fa in this way.
• For those that have been deeply deceived by the propaganda, who have a lot of karma, and who cannot understand us by any means, we can kindly warn them of the serious result if they do not change their misguided notions. We should not lower the standard of the Fa in order to gain acceptance, but we should not bring things to a deadlock either. They could have some other opportunities to understand us in the future. We need to always maintain a benevolent heart. Slowly, they will come to understand our compassion. Actually, it would be good for us to actively reach out to this type of person, and to repeatedly clarify the truth to them because they could have an extremely positive influence, once they come to know the truth. Conversely, they could have an extremely negative influence if they are unable to understand us.
• For the practitioners that are unable to step forward because of various attachments, we should provide Teacher's new articles and the positive reports from Clearwisdom.net, in a timely manner. The power of the Fa and the moving acts of the Fa-rectification disciples will help to awaken them. We need to actively and warmly communicate with them so that they can join the Fa-rectification sooner.
• We need to pay more attention to clarifying the truth to those who are the heads of families or who are influential in society.
• To those who are elderly and believe in Buddhas, we can explain some high-level things, but to the youth, especially young males, we should not speak about those high-level things because they might tend to react against our expectations and there could be some negative results.

When we clarify the truth, we should gauge whether we could do more, based on the response from our audience. That is, after they know the truth, we can encourage them to clarify the truth to others and to uphold justice for the Fa; and let them know that it will be beneficial for them to do so. It will be wonderful if they want to learn the Fa, but we should be careful not to push them too hard.

Be Thorough

Teacher told us to thoroughly clarify the truth. Based on the audience's receptiveness, we should try our best to tell them of Teacher's unlimited compassion; the sacredness and greatness of the Fa, and the profound influence on practitioners and society since the introduction of Dafa; the ferocity of the evil forces; and the principle that "doing good deeds is met with good rewards, and being evil is met with evil returns." We can validate the Fa using the many facts we have learned, so that we can achieve an ideal result in clarifying the truth.

Have a Sense of Urgency

We need to maintain a strong sense of urgency and responsibility towards clarifying the truth. We need to remember the huge sacrifice that Teacher has made, to understand the suffering of fellow practitioners who are in jail, and to remember the billions of people in the world who are waiting for the Fa. Many Chinese people have come from high levels. Even though everyone is personally responsible for their own results, it would really be a pity in the cosmic history if they were cleaned out after the Fa-rectification period because of their attachments or because of being brainwashed by the deceitful propaganda. So we need to truly cherish our time in this critical moment in history to take full responsibility in clarifying the truth. Meanwhile, we also need to make the best use of this time to learn the Fa, to improve ourselves and to achieve better results in clarifying the truth.
