Dafa Practitioner Jia Yongfa Tortured to Death in Xigemu Forced Labor Camp, Jiamusi City

(Clearwisdom.net) Dafa practitioner Jia Yongfa, 35, worked in the Botanical Garden of Hebei Forestry Bureau. He passed away on November 29, 2001. His death was the result of brutal torture for almost two years in Xigemu Forced Labor Camp, Jiamusi City and further barbaric persecution by the Hebei Public Security Bureau. Currently, the Hebei Public Security Bureau still illegally detains Jia Yongfa's two younger sisters C they have been under detention for 15 months.

Jia Yongfa started his practice of Falun Gong in 1997 and later served as a local assistant. He was arrested in July 1999 when he went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. After his release, he was arrested again on November 3, 1999 and detained by the Hebei Forestry Bureau. The authorities later sentenced Jia to one year in forced labor camp and sent him to Xigemu Forced Labor Camp in Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province. In the forced labor camp, Jia Yongfa was severely tortured. He went on hunger strike many times to protest against the persecution. When the one-year term was due, the perpetrators extended his term, saying that no one would be released unless they gave up their belief. Deciding that they would not accept the inhuman treatment any longer, more than 10 Dafa practitioners left the forced labor camp. Jia did not succeed in his escape, and he was arrested on the spot.

After Jia Yongfa was detained for nearly another year, he went on hunger strike again, this time for 12 days. As a result, he became extremely weak. Although Jia was in critical condition, Xigemu Forced Labor Camp didn't inform his relatives to take him back home until he was on the verge of death. That was October 3, 2001. Twelve days later, however, Hebei Public Security Bureau arrested him again before he could recover. Knowing his situation, the perpetrators at the Public Security Bureau brutally tortured Jia Yongfa. He protested with a hunger strike that lasted for 5 days. Seeing that Jia was going to die, the police informed his relatives to take him back. On November 29, 2001, Jia Yongfa passed away, covered by injuries resulting from torture.

Hebei Public Security Bureau has also detained Jia's two younger sisters for last 15 months.
