Report on Canadian Falun Gong Practitioners' 36-hour Hunger Strike in Front of the Canadian Parliament Building (Photos)

It was still cold in March in Ottawa, and the lawn in front of the Parliament is still covered by ice and snow. Nearly one hundred practitioners sat on the icy field in an orderly fashion. The huge banner told each passerby to stop the Jiang regime's order of shooting and killing Falun Gong practitioners in China. One hundred Canadian Falun Gong practitioners held the 36-hour hunger strike petition.

In front of the Parliament building, poster boards of "Journey of Falun Dafa" were set up in rows. The practitioners participating the activity included western practitioners who unfurled banners in Tiananmen Square, elderly people and working professionals.

Several Chinese and English news media and several Members of Parliament attended the press conference at 1:00 p.m. A Member of Parliament said that he has expressed his support for Falun Gong many times. He was moved by the sincerity of the practitioners. He hoped that more people would step forward to support Falun Gong like him. He was sure that justice always wins.

2. Appeal postcards

David, a western Falun Gong practitioner participating in the Tiananmen appeal, and Chinese practitioners made several thousand postcards for the Prime Minister. David wrote a short letter on the card and hoped that the Prime Minister would sponsor a resolution to stop the persecution of Falun Gong in China.

3. The first precedent

Any activity in front of the Parliament building must be applied for at least 48 hours beforehand. This time the application for the 36-hour hunger strike was approved immediately, and for the first time staying overnight on the square in front of the Parliament building was allowed.

At 11:00 p.m., a Member of Parliament came to the location of the hunger strike and shook hands with each practitioner. He was moved by their sprit. He expressed his support and hoped that we would continue our efforts.

4. The serene scene and indestructible power

In the morning, the practitioners who did not sleep for a whole night started group practice. At noon, the practitioners distributed truth-clarifying flyers to working people who went out for lunch. The large screen TV on the lawn played videos of "Truth about the self-immolation incident" and "Worldwide spread of Falun Dafa".
