Police Department in Aimin District of Mudanjiang City, Heilongjiang Province Tortures Falun Gong Practitioners

In the early morning of January 10, 2002, small flags with various colors imprinted with "Falun Dafa is Good", "Zhen-Shan-Ren" and "Return My Teacher's Innocence!" were found in every street and alley of Aimin District in Mudanjiang City.á

Police officers arrested Dafa practitioners in a frenzy. They ransacked practitioners' homes and took their money. They forced practitioners to pay heavy fines. They even seized practitioners' televisions and made illegal body searches. In the evening of January 9, 2002, Aimin Police Department arrested ten practitioners illegally from Xinglong Town. The next day, they arrested four more practitioners. As of February 3, over 30 practitioners were said to have been arrested.á

Under the instruction of the Mudanjiang "610 Office," the city government and the Mudanjiang Police Department, officers from the Aimin Police Department ruthlessly persecuted Falun Gong practitioners. (The "610 Office" is an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems). They tortured the arrested practitioners in the following ways.

1. "Space skullcap." Policemen suffocate Dafa practitioners with plastic bags. Practitioners who refused to cooperate are tortured more severely.
2. Mustard oil. Policemen pour mustard oil into practitioners' mouths, noses and eyes.
3. Pulling the body apart. Policemen handcuff Dafa practitioners' hands and feet onto a steel chair. Then four policemen pull and drag the practitioner in four directions with all their strength.
4. Policemen also push practitioners' backs into the edge of a steel chair to inflict unbearable pain.

Policemen claimed that they worked for the National Security Team [an illegal organization controlled by the "610 Office" to persecute Falun Dafa practitioners]. When practitioners asked why the policemen tortured Dafa practitioners, one of the policemen said, "Jiang said 'killing a few Falun Gong practitioners doesn't matter.' You can proceed to sue us. We are his instruments to persecute Falun Gong."á

Dafa practitioners' relatives are also persecuted. After a practitioner was arrested, his brother, a non-practitioner, was accused of "withholding information" and fined 5000 Yuan RMB. [Approximately 10 months of an average urban worker's salary] His 17-year old daughter and her classmate asked the policemen why they broke down their door. Aimin Police Department detained them for one day and one night in the detention center without any reason.á
