Voice of 33,000 students at Canada's largest university calls for UN resolution to condemn Jiang's persecution of Falun Gong


(Clearwisdom.net) The Students' Administrative Council at the University of Toronto represents 33,000 full-time undergraduate students at Canada's largest University.

The council recently passed a motion calling on the Canadian government to condemn Jiang's regime's persecution of Falun Gong with a resolution at the UN in Geneva this year. The council expressed their personal support to this cause and said they would call on other Universities across Canada to also support this action.

The content of this resolution is enclosed as below:

Be it be resolved by the University of Toronto Students' Administrative Council, that it is the sense of Students' Administrative Council that:

1.The Government of Canada sponsor a resolution for the March UNHRC condemning the Chinese Government's violation of its own constitution as well as the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights; and

2. The Government of the People's Republic of China should immediately cease its persecution of Falun Gong practitioners; and

3. The Government of the People's Republic of China should immediately release all Falun Gong practitioners that are imprisoned and detained in the labor camps, mental hospitals, and "transformation" classes.

Be it further resolved that a certified copy of this resolution be forwarded to The Honorable Kofi Annan, General-Secretary of United Nations; The Honorable Prime Minister Jean Chrétien; The Honorable Deputy Prime Minister John Manley; The Honorable Minister of Foreign Affairs Bill Graham and the Chinese Embassy in Canada.
