For all people, I ask that you do whatever small bit you can to help this day arrive sooner

(Clearwisdom.net) My name is Jason Loftus. I am a third year engineering student on the Dean's List at the University of Toronto in Canada.

I am writing this statement from a hotel in Beijing China where I have traveled this week to appeal for Falun Gong. I would like to briefly tell you why.

Three and a half years ago, my twin sister and I came across Falun Gong at a health show in a small town in Ontario Canada where we were raised. Attracted by the peacefulness and harmony of the practice, we decided to give it a try.

Both of us immediately found numerous benefits in Falun Gong, in our health, in our relationships and in a profound sense of fulfillment that we had not felt before. My mom saw these changes reflected in us and inquired about Falun Gong herself.

After looking into it, She then came to practice as well. Falun Gong spread this way throughout China without a large media or promotion campaign but simply through family friends and word of mouth. That it spread to 100,000,000 people in less than 7 years this way demonstrates the virtue and benefit of Falun Gong, otherwise people would not have shared it with their loved ones and their loved ones, like my mom, would be concerned rather than coming to practice for themselves.

Nevertheless, as Falun Gong spread and brought benefit to millions in China, its popularity alarmed a few leaders of the Chinese government. Out of fear that something not under control by the communist regime had even come to outnumber the Party itself, out of insecurity and out of jealousy, Chinese President Jiang Zemin launched a brutal persecution campaign against Falun Gong practitioners in 1999.

For over two years, Falun Gong practitioners have suffered horrendous persecution: arrests, torture, rape, drugging, beatings and death the entire Chinese nation has become a tool for this campaign against Falun Gong. The daily propaganda pumped through every Chinese medium deceives Chinese people into thinking that Falun Gong is against China, that its practitioners are composed of insane, violent, dangerous, uneducated and even criminal-like people.

The most severe of these propaganda tools has been the self-immolation in Tiananmen Square. I have come from Toronto to Beijing to expose these lies and to help give Falun Gong a voice in China because a billion innocent people are being brainwashed and manipulated to have them support the persecution of their fellow innocent Chinese people.

I am not against the Chinese government or China. In fact, I make these efforts for the Chinese people and for China. The government, the people and the entire Chinese society are victims of this selfish and evil campaign of Jiang Zemin.

I have not come here to put myself in risk, to put on a media stunt to have myself arrested. I am appealing to reach the Chinese people. For the media, I ask that you reveal the lies of the Chinese government.

The day that people in China know the truth of this campaign is the day that this persecution will not be able to continue. For all people, I ask that you do whatever small bit you can to help this day arrive sooner.
