In our village there lives a family that has two sons. Both of them are Dafa disciples and they frequently study the Fa together. Their father, an 88-year-old man, is illiterate. But he listened to the Fa whenever the sons were studying, and he enjoyed listening to the Fa. He was healthy all along, until 2001. The man fell seriously sick, and the family believed that he was going to die, and so they prepared for the funeral. The man's daughter had practiced an unorthodox qigong in the past and was spirit-possessed. At the time when the time came for the man to die while she was taking care of him, a spirit came to the daughter and told her: "Yan Wang, the Judge in the Netherworld, said the father had listened to the sacred Heavenly Book and so the Judge was afraid of taking the father." Later the spirit left her and she become normal. A few days later, the father recovered, and he was healthier than before. But he didn't know that he had listened to the Heavenly Book.

Later, the two sons heard the story. They told their sister and father: "It is our great and kind Master who saved your life and gave you an opportunity to cultivate. It is up to you to grasp this opportunity." The father understood that it was Dafa that saved him. He began to learn Dafa. His sons read the Fa to him because he couldn't read.

Once we were going to have an experience-sharing meeting in the village. On the way to the meeting I met that man who was also walking to the meeting. I asked him, "How old are you, grandpa?" "Eighty-eight," answered the man. We talked about Fa-rectification on the way to the meeting. The elderly man was worried because he could not read. I promised him that I would give him the audiocassettes of Master's lecture. We talked until 2:00 a.m. that night. While sitting in the lotus position and with his back firm and straight, this elderly man quietly listened the whole time.

Today, while waiting at a bus station, an elderly woman wanted to talk to me. During the conversation I shifted the subject to Falun Gong. She liked the topic and did not take the bus when it came to the station. I asked her: "If you are not in a hurry, why don't we walked to the next bus station so we can talk?" "All right," answered the elderly woman. We talked a lot while walking, and she asked a lot of questions. She agreed with what I said. Following is an excerpt of what she said.

"The TV news claimed that Falun Gong practitioners commit suicide and murder. Now I understand it is a lie. Falun Gong has been around for ten years. Why was there no such incident during the first seven years?"

"The self-immolation incident is a fake; one can tell just from the way it looks. Nobody is wrapped so tightly after getting burned."

"I was thinking all along that the social welfare system is not that good; people do not have enough money. Folks practicing Falun Gong just wanted to get rid of illness, improve their health, save money and suffer less. What's wrong with that?"

"Nowadays the government is not abiding by the rule of law, and there is no place for people to speak up. They burned all the Falun Gong books. Why not let everybody read them, and people can judge for themselves whether Falun Gong is good or not. The government controls the TV station. Why not let people voice their opinion? China has no future if it continues like this."

We talked about the stories of retribution, and I asked her to keep righteous thoughts toward Dafa. She replied, "I understand, Falun Dafa is good."

All of a sudden, the elderly woman commented, "We've walked about two bus stops now. I couldn't walk such a long distance under normal circumstances; my feet usually hurt very badly if I walk for a while. I didn't feel a thing today. I understand now! I will practice Falun Gong tomorrow!"

By the time we said goodbye, she told me loudly, "I will remember it. Falun Dafa is good!"
